Anybody here use this type of antenna mount?

http://www.rightchannelradios.com/toyota-cb-antenna-hood-mount-2007.html

This is a hood mount (can't tell if it mounts to the hood itself or to the fender inside the hood.)

For those who use such a mount, how well does it work?

I'm looking at this style mount because it will allow me to mount a reasonable-sized antenna and still fit in my garage.

I may even consider dual antennas, one on each side of the hood, once for CB and one for 2m.

Any recommendations or pictures?

Thanks in advance!

I have used those generic ones. They sort of do the job, but the fit is wrong on my truck. The antenna points forward and it rubs the edge of the hood.

IIRC you have a Toyota. Save yourself the headache and get these:

Ah, those do look like they'd work better. I'm assuming they're custom made? Only thing is, I looked inside the hood of my 4runner at lunch and I don't see any available bolts. I'll look again after work.

Make some holes and rivet or bolt it in place. On older trucks your fenders should be held in with bolts in that location.

Hood mounts can be problematic because of repeated movement when you open/close hoods and trunk lids. Fender mounts are usually much better.

i have the mount but ended up not using it. reason being is i had already ran a wire w a PL-259 connector and didnt want to buy and rerun a new fire ring wire. went with the Comet RS720 in the same spot. uber adjustable and a lower profile.

Semi-custom I guess you'd say. They are made in Colorado & sold by a member of the Rising Sun. They work on most trucks but it's possible that the 4th gen 4Runner is different. THey work better IMHO than the generic ones because of the slight correct for the slope of the hood. He makes a left and right specific one. I should mention that they are more for ham antennas and so very large CB antennas might not work. It would not support a Yaesu ATA-120 too well on my truck, but it's just fine with a Larsen NMO-27 (my CB antenna) and all my dual band ham antennas.
