Dometic Fridge & Goal Zero Yeti 400 12v power source

Looking for a tip from the experts ...

I have a Dometic CFX 40 that I intended to run from a 12v outlet in the back of my 100 Series while out and about, and to run from a GZ Yeti 400 when stationary. Went on a shakedown run last week and discovered that the fridge won't run when plugged into the 12v socket (cig lighter style) on the GZ Yeti. Does fine when plugged in to the AC plug, but not efficient that way.

Any thoughts on how to get it to run on 12v from the GZ Yeti? I've read that the cig lighter plug on the GZ Yeti doesn't provide enough juice for the fridge. Has anyone found a better plug/cord to utilize 12v power source? Hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance!

Unless for just a few hours, the 1250 would be better.

Contact Yet support, you paid enough for it!

Got the Goal Zero through a pro deal, so less painful pricepoint. I hit up Goal Zero customer support as well. We shall see what they say.

There are a few threads here about the Goal Zero, Yes they are a good source of power but they are useless for running Fridges, Yes you can use a lot of the power in them but as the power gets used up the Voltage drops because the voltage is not regulated so even if you manage to run the fridge from it for a while the power will not last very long, Which is another reason why I went with the Dometic PLB-40 because you get 12.8v until the last drop of power is gone.

Goal Zero is fine for everyday camping or for use at work or off grid but they are useless when it comes to fridges,

Sorry but that's the facts,

Using 120v, my fridge works perfectly fine. I was able to fully run my Dometic fridge on my last 4 day camp trip with my Yeti 1000 and a 100W solar panel. So it met my needs but your mileage may vary...

Yes yours worked because you had the solar panel hooked up to keep the voltage up, remove the panel and the fridge won't like it to the point the fridge will shut down.

There are a few threads here on the forum that explain the problem more in depth,

My fridge ran totally fine for 7 days on 120v and I only had a 30w solar panel to charge the GZ, was just a pain to keep it charged with such a small panel. A bigger panel is definitely in my future, but still want to get the fridge/battery running as efficiently as possible on 12v.

I have a heap of panels, I have 6 X 150w panels and a 100w panel and 2 foldout 120w,

The 2 X 120w foldout panels are for charging my Dometic PLB-40's, by the sound of it you need a 100/150w panel to speed up the process, Your 30w panel is only going to put out around 1.5 to 2A per hour on a good day. a 120W panel would give you around 6 to 8 Amps per hour on a good day, That would charge your GZ in about 3 or 4 hours at the most, More likely 1 or 2 hours,

Hope that helps,
