Double R Trailer Rebuild

you prob didn't need to buy my trailer. You could have saved money by just building one from scratch! looks great.

Looking back at the time and $$ spent that is probably true, but its been a fun and educational project.

BTW still can't find a buyer for those "bling" wheels and tires.

Added a rear bumper to protect the Columbus case if I should back into something. But not happy that I told the builder I wanted 2" tubing and he used 1.5". It looks a little wimpy but will do the job.

Looks great Ace! Looking forward to seeing it person one of these days! I am going with a Ruger Trailer. Might be ready for me by end of the week!

You might have mentioned it already but Your Scamp was a to die for build and you have moved to this type of trailer. I will read back through your thread but would love to chat about your move in this direction.

Where did you get the Propane tank mount? I have the same size tank.

Well I sold the Escape to a great young man from Canada and he loves it. Reason I sold it is I bought a home in Cedaredge, CO and no longer needed a home on wheels. Too many places I could not take the Escape but my current trailer never holds me back. It goes where the FJ goes. You want to see it then join me on a trip sometime.

The bottle mount is DIY from strap and a few welded on tabs. This photo should describe it.

Many of us build "adventure" trailers that rarely leave the drive way, but you sir do not have that problem. Trailer looks good.

Yes, I'm sure the trailer would say "gimmy a break" if it could talk. Seems lately all we do is go home to resupply, mow the lawn, etc then turn around and go again. But not complaining. Thanks!

Here I am staring at two or more months in Baja. I think this trailer is more that "up to it". Road trip!

Glad to see you are still alive!!!! Going to have that winter tan you have been wanting. Being there that long, you must be having a good time. How is my dog?

We are doing fine. Lots of tan. No shoes for most of the past two weeks. Kayaking, snorkeling, beer, fresh fish on the barbie, sleep then repeat.

Considering a major rebuild of my trailer. After about 150 nights in the RTT I have decided to sell it and build a solid sided shell on top of the box. When in Baja last winter I got very tired of messing with that zipper after 66 days in a row. Had to finally replace the slider but that only reduced the annoyance slightly. My plan will include a real door in the rear. I will be able to climb in, slam the door shut and hit the rack in about 10 seconds. Also want the security of hard sides and be able to carry light stuff up top. Here is a concept drawing graciously penned for me by Herb.
