I would be more concerned about wear from driving the 2 miles if she got it up to highway speeds (or tried) and redlined the engine the entire way or something. Think about those folks driving on slick rock in 4 low in 4wd vehicles, they would likely be putting more strain on the drivetrains then a short 2 mile drive on normal pavement.

That is a valid point. Looking back now my initial reaction was straight to worst case scenario...
