DSLM. To Ipad

My wife and I are going to Costa Rica in January. I would like to get a new camera to capture all of the beauty there and I am thinking about the Panasonic lumix gx1. (Reviewed in overland journal). Being very new to the non point and shoot world I was curious to know if there is a way to transfer photos directly from the camera to an ipad 3 for storage and editing. Any ideas?

Ipad camera connection kit. It turns the one little port thingie on the bottom to a USB or an SD card slot.
