Dual Batteries in an Outback

We want to run our fridge in our new outback. So I've been trying to find any pics of a dual battery setup. Anybody know of one???

Not much room in the engine bay. Search for the "Superu" thread, that owner used the National Luna battery box system and seemed very happy with it.

I don't have an outback - but I do have a girlfriend with a Patriot, which suffers from a similar lack of space under the hood. We wanted the ability to move the fridge between her Jeep and my truck, so we went with the National Luna Portable Power Pack. It isn't cheap, but it's nice having one system that can be easily moved between vehicles & stored in the garage when not needed.

I don't know what your intended use is, if the car is modified or not, etc, etc. Many people run larger tires, making the factory spare a near useless piece of added weight to carry around (since driving on a significantly smaller tire can do serious damage to the awd system). In this case, a can of fix-a-flat, or a roof mounted spare seem to take precedent. If so, you have the huge spare tire well to use to mount a secondary battery, bank of batteries, or carve up for storage/extra battery use. Just make sure you use a sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery since it will be in the car..

My first car was an 89 buck le saber and it had duel batteries. One was in the trunk, speaker wire running under the floor mat and into the trunk and grounded on a bolt running between the rear independent suspension crossmember and the body. I once went RVing with a redneck friend and his family and we hooked my car up to there RV battery and played xbox all night:sombrero:
