Dual House Batteries/ Inverter Problem

I have a SunForce 2500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter wired to two 12 volt batteries and from the very start the inverter has been giving me a fault code at random times. The fault code is A/C Overload or Shortage. I can get it while the batteries are charging (engine on) or not and with an appliance plugged in or not. Does this error code relate to these issues?

The main annoying feature is that if your input voltage gets too high (>14.5V) or too low (<11.5V), the unit will get into alarm mode and keep beeping until you power cycle it. The unit never resumes automatically when the voltage comes back to normal.

It has unexplained shutdowns. This usually happens under light loading conditions. The unit shuts down and displays an error code of OST #overload# or 529 #inverter defective#. The unit was not overloaded #not even close) any of the times this has happened.

Just got off the phone with their tech support and the guy wanted to bring it in under the warranty. He said he's never heard of a similar issue. Me and my rotten luck I guess!

A 2500 watt inverter should be really close to the battery, and use very thick cabling, even if you are never going to ask it to pass 2500 watts.

At least it is still under warranty and they actually took your call.

With voltmeter determined that 14+ volts were coming out of the battery isolator but not making it to the inverter. To make a very long story short, the guy who originally wired it had made it pull of the alternator when running and batteries when not. :Wow1: So he's working on re-doing it right now and I also used the opportunity to strip out some redundant connnections and upgrade with thicker-gauage cable. Will report back.
