I just dug up some old pics of my FJ60 that i built some years back!

Some Specs:

I dig this truck, becase it was one of the first trucks i built myself and did all my own work on:

-Spring Over Suspension using flatened Old Man Emu Springs
-High Steer Crossover Steering
-FZJ80 E-Lockers Front and Rear (one of the first guys to pull this off!)
-Dual Bats
-York On Board Air (best air setup ever!) :D
-Hella Euro Spec H4 Housings
-Custom (but lame) sliders and rear bumper
-35" MTR
-80 Series wheels
-Aussie Mirrors

Damn i miss this thing!

Aside from the Paint, it was in REALLY nice shape and had 310k on it when i sold it still running strong!

No kidding! Why'd you sell it?

310K? That's awesome! Love 60's & 62's

Long story, but the short version is that i picked it up for cheap $ because the suspension was toast, the tires were rotted through, and it ran like total crap.

I fixed all the issues, put a new carb on it and doubled my $! First rig in the history of me modifying anything that i came out ahead on! :victory:

Also, the whole spring over thing is great and i sprung over every jeep i have ever owned (5 or so), but with a wagon of that size and weight, it was very scary driving that thing on the freeway or any twistys! The SOA on the 60 was not for me!

Yes, 310k on the motor, the motor had a rebuild around 150 or so, and when i sold it, ALL cylinders had a strong 150+/- PSI in them! The thing was a champ! Tranny and Tcase were original, NOT rebuilt and worked and shifted very smooth!

Yeah, one day i am going to put a 62 body onto an 80 chassis and drivetrain!

Sweet 60!

I just keep finding myself looking at 60's. Something about that boxy body just works for me. I keep trying to talk myself (and wife because it will be her DD for a while) into a 96-97 80 but I think I like the 60's better. They just wreak of "utilitarian" and the 80 rounded body just doesn't do it as much. I want to take a 62 to get the FI and power windows but stick the manual transmission in it.

I am about to to go out and stick a E-Lock in my 86 4Runner. Great mod! :wings:

Cool, let me know if ya got any questions, i have done a bunch of them! :D

Well my 6 year old helper slowed me down and kept breaking my concentration so didn't get far today. Made a switch panel next to my CB in the dash and started building the circuit.

I was sorting out the control circuit and I think I have it worked out. Just need to finish wiring it and test it.

I want the lights that show where it is in the locking cycle like this: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/electric_locker/
But I really don't like how they did the relays so I am wiring the relays like this:
http://carterswebsite.com/4runner/mods/locker/#CONTROLLER

The big difference is I can use the run of the mill 30 amp Bosch relays (that I already have coming out of my ears) instead of a double pole single throw the top set up used. Using 12v LED's for the lights and I should be just insert them into circuit basically across the coil on the relay since the limit switch is Normally closed.
Using a momentary switch but that set up should let me use a standard single pole double throw switch because once the limit switch hits it will cut power to the relay.

The locker has to be "locked" to install in the housing correct?

Do you have any pictures of when you cut your rear 1/4's?
I have always loved that 60 since you built it.:clapsmile

Yeah, here are some pics of us building some high clearance 1/4's and rock protection for it.

Please excuse the horrific welds, this was my first time welding anything! The welds on the gusset of the hitch are nice, they are not mine though! :D
