Huh? What do you mean? Its actually quite easy. Time consuming, but very straight forward!

So they bolt right in? For some reason I thought they did not.
Same ring and pinion?

Then you have to figure out the wiring, but with a stock harness that can't be to bad.

Little bit of modification to the housing but not bad.

I like the way this guy wired it better. Added the progress lights they show on the above link. Just need to bridge them on the coil of the relay.

I'll be posting some info in my 86 4Runner build thread.

Not quite a "Bolt In" but with some replaced studs and some "Massaging" they go in very nicely!

Yes and No, the 80 series rear is the same as the front AND the rear of a 60 and the Rear 80 series elocker can be installed into the front AND the rear diffs on a 60 series. The 80 series FRONT Elocker is differnt and cannot be used in a 60 no matter how skilled ya are with a plasma cutter and welder! :D

Bingo! :victory:

Thanks for the pictures.
So you welded the sliders to the body instead of the frame? Is that as strong?
Thanks,

Dylan

Yes, but what you cant see (and what i didnt take pics of) is the welded in supports behind that as well. I welded tubes from the rear of the slider to the frame, strong as hell, but tying the body to the frame like that produces a good amount of vibes!

The rocker panel sliders work well, they can hold the weight of the truck on their own.
Great replacement for rusted out rockers.

So the 60 series axles work with the FZJ80 rear locking thirds?
This seems really cool, how did I not know this.

Yes and no. There is a bit more to it then that, but it is fairly easy.

*The housing (front or rear) needs to be notched a little bit to clear the e-locker motor. Also, there are 4 or so studs you need to replace with longer ones.

*You need to obtain a longer spline inner shaft from either a Non-US Cable Locker setup, or have one custom made. I had mine custom made out of 4340 and it was only $300 or so! The shaft splines need to be longer so that the locking collar can slide to engage and disengage.

*If you are installing the REAR e-locker into a NON e-locker housing you need to make sure it is a full floating unit or you need to swap out the entire housing to a FULL Floating unit! The e-locker will NOT work with the C Clip shafts of the semi floating axles.

On A Side Note: All 93+ 80 series rear ends are full floaters! :victory:

When i did my retro fit into my 80, i found just a used rear axle shaft out of a e-locker rear end and it popped right in and works like a charm!

The NON Elocker rear Shaft has shorter splines like the front and needs to be swapped out.

All of the above items can be found fairly easy with some phone calls and elbow grease! :D

Any questions, feel free!

Ah, this is starting to make sense.
You would need a full floater 60 series rear axle housing to start with.
And a custom or cable locker axle shaft.
And the locking third from the 80.
Then mod the housing with the notch and the studs. (great photos posted a page back)
Then it would bolt together, and THEN there is the electrical.

Is there a write up on this somewhere? Very interesting.

Really cool bling, but an ARB would probably end up being cheaper.
I think I will stick with my pipe dream of putting complete 80 series axles with the coil springs under the 60. ( I have no idea if that would work, would need some big fender flares and I think the 60 frame would interfere with the coils.) But it is fun to daydream.

Do you still have your 60 pictures on your website? I used to check that site all the time when I got my 60 and started the SOA
