E-locker on non TRD Tacos?

You have to be careful with that though, because as I understand it there is no reasonable way to fit the e-locker third into the not TRD tacoma housing (8.25"). While it is relatively easy to swap in the third into the older 8" housing. It would be best off to either wait for a TRD if you have to have the e-locker or swap the entire rear end over or go ARB...

The 8" TRD 3rd member WILL NEVER fit into the "8.4" girdled 3rd axle housing. Short of fabrication far beyond the benefit . The actual mounting surface pattern is completely different between the two.

You can however find complete hub-hub TRD axles off of Taco/Runner wrecks. The Taco is ideal as it is 100% bolt in (with the exception of the wiring) whereas the 4Runner will need a bit of work. Keep in mind the park brake setups also changed throughout the 1st gen Taco years, some over the spring, some under, cables are different as well as axle bracketry.
