E450 transmission parking brake???

Had a quick question regarding the parking brake that can be found on the rear of the transmission of my 2005 E450.

Went to remove it last night and had no luck in doing so.

From everything that I could find online and by looking at it, it looks to just bolt onto the tailhousing of the trans with 6 bolts. Its not attached the the trans crossmember.

I know there is a dowel pin at the top but I could not get the 2 pieces to seperate! I used the standard technique of using screwdrivers as wedges and hosing it down with penetrating oil.

No doubt the aluminum has oxidized some and its dragging on the dowel pin but besides putting more ******** into "whacking it off" any other suggestions? Have I missed some hidden bolt?

I do not want to damage it or the trans.

Doesn't look like anything else holding it on other than the 6 bolts...

can you rig up a slide hammer to the yoke?

Before starting with a hammer, I would suggest heat, carefully of course

Thanks! Ill give that a shot. My other idea was to rig up a ratchet strap around it and apply tension while providing a few "love taps"

That should break through the midwest adhesion barrier

Before starting with a hammer, I would suggest heat, carefully of course

A slide hammer is different than taking swings with a sledge.... Much better control and the force is along the axis of the housing that is being pulled off.
