I would disagree with that statement. If it's registered and insured as a "kit car" (hobbiest plates in the state of Wisconsin), then you're covered. I could build whatever Frankentruck that I wanted, as long as it passes an inspection by the State Police. Then I'd be issued a VIN and title. The only trouble with an accident is getting fair market value for YOUR vehicle.
