So either I broke our new tent or our new tent broke. I'm not sure which. I thought I'd share my quick fix in case anyone else has the same problem. The T-Top XKlusive has an aluminum support that you fold up to support the portion of the tent that covers the ladder.
The aluminum support is attached at the corners by a piece of plastic that is inserted into the aluminum support members and riveted in place. One of ours broke.
I'm leaving for a week long trip tomorrow so I didn't have time to wait for a part. I tried epoxying it back together knowing it wouldn't work. It didn't, so I went to plan b. I found a Stanley fastener at the hardware store that matched the width of the support members with predrilled holes and bought a rivet tool.
I drilled holes in the support members and riveted the bracket to them with 3/16" medium rivets.
I had planned to add a bracket to the top and the bottom of the support but just the top bracket seems to have done the trick. So far it feels stronger than the cheesy plastic insert that it came with.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share my solution for something that seems likely to break.
