El Dorado NF | Lost Lakes

So this is a trip I have been planning and I finally was able to have time to take it.
I took the fam (2 adults, 2 teens and a tomboy toddler) and it was everyone's first time camping (except me).
The destination was to Lost Lakes, above Upper Blue Lake. I figured this would be a great spot for the first timers and I was not disappointed.
I traveled from the San Jose with a total of 5hrs drive including stops.
Taken with my iPhone 6 with some filters.

I should have taken more shots, but I was eager to get to ours.
Next time, I will remember to take my time (plus, with eager family, it's a challenge after a 5hr drive!)

Aired down a bit, but not enough.
The climb was not hard at all. I was worried a bit
as we were the only people there (but some folks came as the weekend approached)

Found a spot...surrounded by three sides of water and no one around.
It poured an hour after we got half way settling down with thunder. It was great experience for the first timers!

Got the set up going and about to make our first meal of the trip!

Shooting the KelTec Sub2k in 40. My daughters first time and wife's first time shooting it. Them aluminum cans had no chance! They had a blast!

The morning shots. It was cold, but not freezing.
I was a bit worried about Racoons, but we did not encounter any in the night. I was eerily quiet...too quiet.

After a hot breakfast (spam, eggs and rice), we hiked about 15mins to the other lost lake.
The water was cold, but the views were amazing. We swam for a while and sulked in the beauty.

There are quite a few of these guys around...but fortunately, we did not get any of these guys on us.
I recommend wearing pants at all times.

No yellow jackets, mild mosquitoes and mild flies.

We got there Thurs mid day and went home mid day Friday. We left one day early dues to some scheduling conflict, but there is always a next time. Friday afternoon, a group of campers set up camp about 35yds from us. It didn't spoil it for us, but it is much funner when you have it all to yourself. I recommend going during the week. As for the first timers, they loved it and want to return!
