Electrical help needed

Ok brains trust, I need some help.

This morning (at 4.15am) when I went to start the truck I turned on the ignition and none of the dash lights came on straight away.

I tried starting it and it cranked over very slowly, not enough to start. I cranked it over a few times and luckily it started and I could drive to work.

Normally I would assume this means flat battery but when I turned the ignition on and off a few times once I parked, I could hear a relay clicking and occasionally I would get all dash lights on like everything is ok.

Is there a general power relay connected to the ignition switch? Could this be faulty?

Or is it just flat batteries?

I have never had any other starting problems and did not leave anything electrical on or a door ajar to drain batteries overnight.

I am away from the truck until tonight and hope someone might be able advise.

Occam's Razor says bad battery or dirty contacts somewhere. Don't forget to check the grounds.

I am on my way back to the truck soon and fingers crossed I'll find a loose earth or dirty terminal.

No sure what your truck has but my truck had two 12 volt batteries in parallel and I had nothing but trouble with it. One battery was always a little weaker than the other and drawing the good battery down, then causing overcharging. I finally installed a marine battery switch allowing use of either, both or none. Problems solved.

connecting + and - to opposite corners of parallel pair, so that total cable length to each is the same, can help reduce imbalance
