On road trip, shifted out of 4LLC while moving, clanking noise, then no go anymore. 4 wheel shifter has limited movement, center diff still indicates locked position, but gear selector won't move truck in any gear......ideas?

Well, it's not a great idea, but have you tried putting it into neutral and giving it a push? Just to see if that unbinds whatever is currently bound up. I know when things get sticky in 4WD driving in reverse sometimes pops things back into place, but if it won't move that's a different issue...

Good luck buddy

No one is making a new replacement part? Wouldn't a salvage yard piece be just as prone to breaking?

Oh man...I had 2 "white ball" tcase shifters for sale as of yesterday afternoon. 1 was sold almost immediately and the other one is pending sale. The guy hasn't paid me yet...but if you are interested let me know ASAP.

I had to pull my shifter on the road once. I was at a cabin in the mountains when it god locked in 4 low. Dropped a screw into the case. Talk about sick! I had my quad with me and road it 30 minutes into town (mine is street legal in AZ) to get a magnet tool. Luckily I was able to fish it out. I still am not sure how I got it out, but everything went back together and I made it home safe and sound.

I assume you own a Gen 2.5..if you do the shifter "ball" on those "red/orange" are prone to failure. 97 and below had the "white ball" shifters and are basically a oem replacement upgrade. The white ball shifters are superior and pretty much will outlast the vehicle itself.

Update: the inner boot is torn. Looks like I'm ordering the whole assembly ball + shifter now. Available from Mitsu L.A. warehouse.....I'm not saying how much they want.....

Just get the 94-95 shifter. Don't blow the money on a new one. No the white ball will not fall to bits like the red one.
