Emergency brake on 2001 dodge

I took a 2001 dodge3500 in to the dealer because the emergency brake was not holding. $900.00 later I have a new brake job. But still no emegency brake. It is worse now then before. What did they overlook? Even with the truck in gear it still rols down hill.

Does the emergency brake use the brakes to secure the truck or is there an internal transmission brake. The regular brakes work fine it seems.

Does your Dodge have standard rear drum breaks?

Usually standard rear drum breaks have a star wheel that you spin to expand/adjust the shoes to get them to rest on the drum with a small amount of friction at first until they break in.

Another way to adjust the rear breaks is to roll the truck backwards and hit the parking break a few times. Not always full proof but with new breaks that have all the parts replaced and lubed correctly it should work.

Also, inspect and make sure the breaks were installed correctly, you can put them on wrong btw.

most likely it has rear disc. The e brake is a small drum type of brake inside the center of the disc. It could be as simple as an ajustment. How does the e brake peddle feel ? Does it go to the floor ? First thing could you look at your invoice and see what was replaced. For that price I would think you would see calipers, rotors, pads, and ebrake shoes. If all that is listed I would go back eand have them adj. the e brake cables and shoes. ( if it was my shop there would be no charge ).

Got the truck back today. They found that the inner seal was leaking grease on to the inner e brake pads. They replaced the seal and the pads. They coverlabor because they did the first brake job and did not check the e brakes. in July. Even with me telling them the ebrake was bad. I had to pay for parts. $189.00 Alls good now.
