End of an era. Race Face closes shop.

I used to have a small collection of broken cranks so it doesn't really suprise me. I will miss their chainrings though. They have out lasted anything from Shimano or Truvativ. Their external bottom brackets are horrible.

I put the last new Race Face bars and seatpost I had in stock on Travis' bike. I really liked those and had good luck with them. Their cranks, not so much.

I've really become a Truvativ, Avid, SRAM guy. But I still like White Brothers and Manitou forks better than Rock Shox.

used to love their cranks until had to buy rings, buy another crankset cheaper, also the carbon "decal" came off my next cranks. i know their carbon inside just seemed kinda cheap to put a decal on there. have a new carbon riser i just put on my xtc 29r though. guess the lifetime warranty dont mean nothin now. comfy bar though...

Bringing up this thread back from the dead because Raceface was salvaged/brought back to life and are offering a new set of other parts. I actually chose them, the Raceface Next SL carbon cranks (650grams -- 120 grams lighter than XTR), really solid design. And the turbine stem which is Thompson-esque and lighter and very stiff.

Basically, Raceface is back and doing better than ever in my opinion... :)

I haven't really followed the details, but it sounds like the employees stepped up to take control of the company. Not sure where the additional funding came from, but their rebirth is aggressive and they look to be back on track.

Here are a couple photos. I'm ecstatic about them. And again, 650 grams...

See how they do in the long term durability department as I have a lot of leverage at 6'5, I break weak chains and am definitely a big heavy clydesdale masher. But so far so good...
