End of the season weekend in Idaho.

With our warm and dry season coming to an end, the wife and I decided to hit the Trail of the CDA in northern Idaho before it was too late.

We are avid road cyclist, commuting 5 days a week with day trips on the weekend, and an occasional touring run. This trip was a simple up and back, overnight trip.

Starting in Plummer, Idaho and ending in Wallace, Idaho, and back again. 138 miles round trip.

With the weather being very unpredictable this time of year, we ran pretty heavy (for us), packing a good deal of extra clothing that more than likely would not be needed, but if needed, we couldnt live without.

The weather up here can turn from a sunny 65 degrees to a wet and wintery 35 in a heartbeat.

On to the photos!

Traditionally my wife sets the pace on the flats, and I take over on the climbs.

Lots of tracks on the trail, but little wildlife to be found.

Bear prints here.

Always on the lookout for Moose. They are very common on this trail, though we didnt see any on this trip.

Wallace is fairly well known for it's "red-light district" back in the day.

We quickly became familiar with a small cafe called the Red Light Garage that happened to be right next to our hotel. Great people and even better food. Plus, they had this.... thing outside...

And the return trip.

About halfway back my back really started aching. Ive been fighting back problems for years. The rainstorm that was pushing in wasnt helping any either. When I found this bench along side the trail, I had to stop and stretch out!

The view wasnt too bad either. So we made it our lunch spot.

And a final stop at Pedal Pushers in Harrison Idaho. They make a mean cappuccino :coffeedrink:
