Engle mt 27

I just got a used Engle MT27. I have been running it for about 24 hours on 115v. My kill a watt says it has used .77KW of power to keep the temp at 0 degrees f. Has anyone else checked power requirements on a newer one? The one I got says it was made in Japan, new ones are made in Taiwan? How old could this unit be? Is it working right?

Seems like it's working right. The power supply converts it to 12V (it's basically a 10:1 ratio from a nominal 120V).

Someone should check my math since I'm barely into my first cup of coffee, but here goes: Soooo: .77kw = 770W
770W / 24 hours = 32W per hour.
32W / 120V = .267A (at 120V)
Converting 10:1 (120V to 12V) = 2.67A instantaneous current draw when the compressor is working full on.

Those numbers are within spec.

Hope that helps,
Craig.

Now why didn't I think to do all that math. You are right it does seem correct, thanks. It was running pretty much full time to keep the temp at 0 degrees f.

OK I got the fridge installed in my trailer:

It has 1 1/2" foil backed insulation on the sides. The temperature of the sides of the cooler are about 20 degrees cooler than the temperature of anything else inside the trailer so the insulation seems to be helping a lot. There are cutouts and a small fan for the condensing coils. The slides are from the big orange box store for about $20.00. Tie downs are plumber's tape screwed to the handle holes.

Those slides were only 20 bucks? I repurposed an RV generator slide. Its great to slide it out of the way. Nice job!
