It's true!! Hell has officially frozen over. Here is the proof!!!

I am putting my beloved 2013 Toyota 200 Series Land Cruiser up for sale. I have owned this truck for 8 years now, and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. I built this vehicle to be capable of taking me anywhere on this planet. Start it up and see the world. It is absolutely ready for that journey, and has taken me to a lot of incredible places. I love this truck. But it’s time for a change.

Here are a couple shots from south of Loreto, Baja MX.

I am a Land Cruiser guy, through and through. 25 years in the TLCA. I own a ’76 FJ40 and a ‘84 FJ60 with all sorts of modifications. I owned a 100 Series Land Cruiser for a dozen years, and it was the show truck for Equipt for the first 7 years of the company. I bought a 5th Gen 4Runner as a replacement, and it too was a great vehicle…….but I missed my 100 Series. The 200 Series Land Cruiser was a logical next step in our evolution.

Years ago I was told by the Toyota Motor Corp 200 Series Land Cruiser lead engineer that the 200 is the strongest Land Cruiser they have ever built. I believe him. It is as solid a vehicle as I have ever driven. Power, elegance, ride quality, and toughness you will not find elsewhere in an SUV. Best of the best, and a perfect platform to showcase the best expedition equipment made.

The truck is finished in Blizzard Pearl (070). The interior is upholstered in black leather. The front seats are heated, ventilated and power-adjustable. The heated outboard second-row seats and third row seats, and are currently removed, but come with the vehicle. The 5.7-liter DOHC V8 features dual independent VVT-i variable valve timing for a factory rating of 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case. Traction assistance provided by KDSS and Crawl Control.

Amenities include: a Multi-Terrain Monitor system, Dynamic Radar cruise control, a JBL voice-activated touchscreen audio system with navigation and CD, and four-zone automatic climate control, a back-up camera, a rear-seat entertainment system, four-zone automatic climate control, and a cool box in the center console. The heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel frames a central digital display, a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage.

A great deal of thought went into the upfitting of this truck. If I were to outfit another 200 Series, I can’t think of a single thing I would do differently. Everything has a purpose and a place. It is elegantly uncomplicated, and performs flawlessly. The equipment on this truck is very modular as well. It is fully kitted for 2 people travel, live and sleep comfortably as it sits. Or you can remove the RTT and sleep 1 inside on the Goose Gear sleeping platform. Or you can remove the forward cabinets and return the second row seats. Or remove it all and return the third row seating as well. With the addition of the 25 gallon auxiliary fuel tank, you have a range of over 600 miles.

Expedition Portal Vehicle Review

Expedition Portal produced an in depth vehicle review video of my truck. Scott Brady and I speak in detail about the build.

Expedition Portal: 200 Series Land Cruiser Build with Paul May

I have changed only a couple things on the truck since this video. We replaced the load bars with a full rack. We changed the awning to an Eezi-Awn Dragonfly Mini 180 model. And we replaced the front driving lights with a set of Baja Designs LP9 pros.

I did have Scheel Mann front seats in the vehicle, but couldn't in good conscience leave them in. Their installation disabled the air bag system in the vehicle, so I returned the original front seats to the vehicle.

Here is the rear bumper and all the toys.

The Slee Offroad rear bumper has a lot going on. It is a dual swing out with full size spare on matching rim with cover, MaxTrax and HiLift on the passenger side. There a 5 gallon propane bottle and mount on the driver side above an Alubox 67L aluminum storage case mounted vertically.

Underneath the rear bumper is a 25 gallon Long Ranger auxiliary fuel tank.

Here are some shots of the rear interior of the vehicle. Most prominent is the Custom Goose Gear system.

The National Luna 50L Dual Zone Fridge is on top of an AT Overland Combo slide.

Copy of IMG_0530 (Medium).jpg

Custom Partner Steel 2 burner stove, fed from propane bottle mounted on swing out.

The most important tool on the truck, located just right of the drawer.

Copy of IMG_0532 (Medium).jpg

Goose Gear drawer divider system installed, customizable to your needs. I used it as my kitchen kit.

Copy of IMG_0533 (Medium).jpg

I had Goose Gear contour the top plate right up to the walls of the interior, for a wider sleeping platform. A great cubby here for secure storage.

Copy of IMG_0534 (Medium).jpg

A full camp kitchen enclosure for the fridge. The top is perfect for an Alubox 42L case.

Copy of IMG_0535 (Medium).jpg

In the rear hatch we have 2 National Luna Touchlights installed. One lights clear or red, and the other is clear or yellow.

We also installed the rear hatch release button, to allow rear egress from inside vehicle.

Here are some images of the second row interior. Goose Gear built these enclosed cabinet sections with a top access lid. The passenger side is the same height as the rear cabinet, so it's a great sleeping platform. With the passenger seat moved and tilted forward, you have close to 7' in length inside.

Copy of IMG_0540 (Medium).jpg

The driver side cabinet was lowered several inches to accommodate a memory foam mattress for our dog.

Behind the drive side cabinet, and in front of the Camp Kitchen enclosure is another cubby for storage.

Here is the front row of the vehicle. The black leather seats are in great condition. I have Escape Gear charcoal seat covers over the top of them for protection.

On the front vertical face of the Goose Gear cabinets there are several full time live 12V and USB outlets, as well as the WeBoost amplifier and remote speaker for the HAM radio.

Toyota factory rubber mats on both sides.

You can see the 2 meter radio and dual battery controller on the center console.

Gorgeous build. How much has to come out for the second row to me used? Looking to seat at least 5 peeps.. they can be close. Might also want to pull half the rear to seat a 6th as we have family from Nepal staying with us for a few months.

Hi Bill. Thanks! The two clamshell style cabinets that are accessible from the side doors would be removed, and the second row put back in. There is a bit of electrical/comms inside the passenger side cabinet that would need to be disconnected as well. The first time you exchange cabinets for seats might take a couple hours, simply because of unfamiliarity. After the first time, I would say you could swap cabinets for seat or vice versa in an hour or less. The addition of a third row single seat is not viable. The premise of the Goose Gear system is the installation of a base plate in the rear section that covers the entire floor. Then the Camp Kitchen section and the drawer section are installed on top of that plate. You would need to remove that entire assembly for a third row to work. That would be another couple hours, but possible.

Cheers,

Cypher

Wow, cheers to the buyer! No doubt, the deal of the century. Certainly one of the best built 200s out there.
