I would like to start a thread on Ram Rebel 1500 trucks

I would like to learn about the suspension and features on this specific trim level

Dodge Ram
5.7L V8 345 cid
395 HP @ 5,600 RPM
410 TQ @ 3,950 RPM

I once had a Ram Rebel rental and the suspension was oh, so smooth . I assume this is because the 4 corner coils and no rear leafs?

So what's the good, the bad, and the ugly?

I would probably only be looking at a used model, from 2020 to current, with the 5.7L V8

I had a 2020. It rode really nice. I ended up putting a small 2 inch lift on it with some Bilstein 5160s in the front and 8100 in the rear. Those shocks are a pretty good upgrade over the OEM ones and definitely worth it.

I found this low mileage 2021 Rebel for a decent price

How many miles did you put on your 2020? Any issues?

zero issues, but I did not have it that long. Maybe 25,000 miles? Ended up selling it to a friend and purchasing a gladiator instead as it fit my needs better.

It was an amazing truck though. I’ve never been in a vehicle that nice inside Luxury car quality. Drove well. Good power. Abysmal mileage.

So other than an electric rear locker, how is the suspension different with the Rebel package?

Factory lift? Better shocks?

"Unique dual-rate coil springs are found on steel-spring models (air suspension is optional) that give the rebel a slight (1-inch) height advantage over the rest of the Ram 1500 lineup."

I like that it has a 33 gallon tank. This is one of the complaints I have with my Silverado, is the smaller 26 gallon tank

I still love my Rebel its a 2016 though, so not sure if much of my experience is relevant to you. I am in the middle of fixing the hemi exhaust manifold issue with warping manifolds that break the mounting bolts. as I understand this is super common right up to the present (last?) Hemi's. oh yes and horrible gas mileage that I made worse by putting on a great sounding muffler. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The newer cab the 2019+ half ton uses can have dust intrusion issues. 2500+ still uses the older cab which we never had dust issues with.

Hemi has typical Hemi fun, lifter tick/cam issues, cracked exhaust manifold/hardware.

Regular oil changes seems to help lifter issues.

Hemi is no longer available 2024 and newer.

Biggest draw to me was actually having a real shifter, not sure I would pay for the luxury difference between it and a Big Horn to get a 1" lift. Locker is standard in Off-Road package.

What's dust intrusion?

I am going to steer clear of the "etorque" motor

Etorque became standard in the last couple years of the hemi.

Dust intrusion is like where your cab fills full of dirt when you drive on unpaved roads. Very strange, I have no idea what their problem is. My old F-150 with no cab corners and the sills rotted off the bottom of the doors stayed cleaner inside than a more than a couple brand new trucks.

Stellantis and the techs kept thinking it was actually a cab leak, I wondered if it was something with the HVAC to pump that much dirt in. Wagoneers were doing it too.

I am no longer at a dealer so I don't know if they ever got anywhere.

They all have issues, I don't mean to scare you off but I worked at a dealer for a couple years and did see that kind of regularly.

I don't have a Rebel, but I do have a 2020 Big Horn. 2" Bilsteins in the front, 1 inch coil spacer in rear with bilsteins and I air bagged it. Spends its summers towing a 8500 lb boat every weekend. 54,000 miles and zero issues. No hemi tick, no manifold issues, no dust intrusion issues. This is my 3rd hemi Ram......'07 3rd gen (156k)....'14 4th gen (95k), and now '20 5th gen. All flawless with perfect maintenance and none ever went or have been to the dealer....knock on wood. The 5th gen interior and ride is unreal.

What year did etorque officially become standard?

I assume it would be specifically listed on the window sticker

It's on the hood badge as well.

Also the alternator kinda resembles a extra chunky old York a/c compressor front and center in the engine bay.
