Is it true that once an ex military vehicle goes out of the country they can't come back?
I was thinking about the m1008 for a bulid but i want to go to alaska from the lower 48 and trouw canada.
I dont wont to get out of country and not be able to get my truck back.

An M1008 is just a Chevy 5/4 isn't it? I can't imagine any scenario where your pickup truck wouldn't be allowed back into the US.Just my opinion though.:coffee:

I think you would be fine in Canada. I know there was or is going to be a tour of the Alaska highway of exmilitary vehicles to commemorate its construction.

It will be titled, registered and insured just like any other vehicle and that is all the Canadian and US border personnel will care about.

I think what you refer to is EXPORTING an ex-military rig. I can't imagine that if you had an old GPW etc that they would impound it at the border if you went from say Seattle to Vancouver for a Sunday drive. If that is the case, wow! I have exported quite a few trucks from the US to Canada, and it is very simple. I can't imagine that you would have any issues with a legally registered and insured vehicle.

What is being referred to is when the US sells mil. vehicles to another country, the country has no more use for them after some time period, then they are offered for sale by that govt. (or a 3rd. party). Those vehicles are not supposed to be imported back into the US. Once the vehicle is expatriated, it is not supposed to be repatriated.

Yeah, what he said. Once it has been sold to a foreign govt., it will not be allowed back in. (although there have been a few that make it, it's unusual) If you are from here though, why not just buy one here?
