I like your decisions. It seems like Excap and Krug give great value for the money. I have not had any problems with the electronics on my U500 but sometimes I wish I had a non-electronic chassis. The Unicat camper has also been trouble free. I think you are going to end up with a chassis much more reliable than a F550 and a camper much higher quality than a ER. For about half the price.
As far as entering the US, you might consider shipping to Halifax and then crossing a land border. It will make things much easier if you have a US license plate on the truck when you enter the US.
The port rigmarole In Halifax is about 10% of what it is In a US port. Literally.
