EXD 350 - EarthCruiser on flat bed

Put a flatbed on E350 and have it all, why not?
Interesting idea. Quigley 4x4 or UJoint on E350 Cutaway chassis. Any way to connect the cab to the EXD body for a walk through and swivel the front seats? That might be tougher. You would likely have to modify the EXD interior too much. Still, it's nice being able to include the cab as part of the living area like a SMB. Let us know when you get the first EXD 350 done for sure. I hope to get out there and take a look at it.

The turning radius on the E350 would be better that the F350. My SMB has a curb to curb of about 49 feet. The F350 is likely 59 feet.

Was just reading some good things about MG Metalworks' E350 4x4 conversion (sportsmobile forum) - may be another one to look at for the cutaway option. There are also fiberglass extensions to make an extended cab, which could be interesting for this application...

edit - meant to mention to the EC folks, MG is located in Newberg.

If this can be done on a van cutaway, this is my destiny. I don't want the long nose of a truck to eat up my overall length, and I am not interested in any modern cab over chassis that can be bought in the USA due to horror stories and lack of easy dealer servicing.

A cutaway could even afford a bit longer earthcruiser box than an 8 foot bed truck...maybe no need for a convertible dinette/bed.

You might be interested in some of their other models. Earthcruiser makes several top notch rigs!

Yes, the wheelbase of 138" gives better turning, the cab length of 92.5" is much less, the cab rear to axle length of 80" should be fine for the EXD box and even a little longer as you say. I really like the convertible bed/dinette though. Gives more living space until bed time. We just sleep in sleeping bags in our SMB, so making the bed is no issue. Just roll it out and grab a pillow. The V-10 has 420 lb/ft of torque and should be adequate. No fuel mileage, but I am used to 11 or 12 mpg already. Quiqley would be thrilled with the business, but a little more lift would be an improvement on their conversion. Aluminess already has lots of bumper options that work well on the E-350.

EXD - 350 is all but finished!

First camping trip this week end.

Some roof up pic`s.

Looks great on the truck.

Quick drive today, nothing interesting.

Front screen zipps out.

Suspension is stock in these photos. We form the wheel arch when the side skirts and tool boxes go on, that`s why it looks like there is no rear wheel up travel clearance in these pic`s.

Michelle and I are doing some pop up shows in our EarthCruiser EXP on a FUSO this week ( Seattle - Portland - San Francisco- San Jose ), I have asked the crew to keep us all updated.
