Expedition Celica in Long Beach May 14th

I know it's not expedition related, but should be fun. I'll be there with my crazy Celica on display, trying to help promote rallying and expedition travel in SoCal. Stop by and say HI, if your in the area and looking for something to do that day.

May 14th, show is free, parking is not, at the Queen Mary park.

I wanted to go to ToyotaFest. But I'm kinda torn. The Southern California Land Cruiser Swap Meet is on the same day. DOH! Would of been a nice if the two events could be side-by-side.

I went to that show once when I lived in LA in 2005. What an incredible collection of vehicles. That year I showed my chinook which won the "Most Unique Vehicle" award.

Have fun at the show, take lots of photos :-D

Love the Chanook, neat bit of Toyota history. I'm not planning on winning anything, just something fun to do, see some friends, and COOLER weather. (100 degrees in Phx the last couple of days)

Actually, I hadn't planned on winning anything either, I just wanted a better parking spot and it was cheap to enter a vehicle :-D I spent most of my time hanging out with some guys from www.1stgencelica.com who had come down from San Fran... luckily they put my truck right next to the Celicas. There were some awesome machines there, including Andy Vang's F20C powered 71 Celica which I been watching be built on the forum.

Cool. Love the looks of the 1st gens, but I'm not sure I would do to one of those that I did to my '84.

Leaving tomorrow afternoon for Long Beach. Hope to see at least a few of you this weekend...

It looks like TORC Toyotafest was an awesome event again this year.

I saw your car in the background of someone's photo on another forum:

I've almost gone to this even a few times. One of these days I'll make the drive (I have a modified Toyota Yaris as my daily go-kart/weekend autocrosser).

Love your Celica!

Thanks. It was fun getting to drive the car around SoCal and letting friends, family and local Celica forum guys see the car in person. I spend a good bit of time in SoCal, but this was the first time I had time to wonder around a bit in the Celica, usually busy going to rallies.

Very cool!

Im a bit into the Subaru side of that vintage rig. Ive got a '84 GL, nowhere near that modified though.

Question for you, what size wheels/tire are you running? And what tires?

Im trying to figure out a good LT tire setup, but need to keep the overall tire diameter less than 26" to avoid any body trimming.

The wheels are factory GT-S rims, 14x7. The tires are General Grabber AT2s, 27-8.50x14s. Maybe you could find something more like a 205/75R14 AT or 215/70R14.
