Just my opinion but I wouldn't bother with and intake system. They seem to be more of a liability in the off road world, and when I had mine the in cabin sound was nauseating on long hill climbs but mine was an automatic.
Throttle response was marginally better but not worth the coin. I didn't feel any extra power and got no improvements in mpg's.

Nice start platform! Love the 4runner and yours looks clean, and most importantly, a 5speed!

Shrockworks is a beautiful bumper. winch mount, lift points, light tabs, clean lines. when they have on for the '10T4R- im gonna jump on it.

I like the AFE Dry filter intakes, but im not schooled at all on the 3.4 options available.

intake and exhaust, not really worth the money. very small improvements in performance if any, a huge layout of cash, and there is nothing wrong with the stock parts.

trueflow air filters WERE the best, but they are out of business now. grab yourself a good paper filter and you should be fine.

budbuilt skids might be a good idea.

lights, i would plan carefully, the stock 70A alternator doesn't leave you much headroom for electrical equipment. HID and LED's are a must.

for a rear bumper, i never really liked anyone's bumpers, so i built my own. now i sell them as well. id find a local fab shop and employ them to build you one.

-Air intake mod or CAI....recommendations ? Just use a stock one, or get a snorkel!
Use the money you save by not doing the exhaust and intake to get a set of Budbuilt skids. Far more bang for the buck!

Find some bumpers you like and have a local fab shop build them, you're in Colorado I'd check out Addicted Offroad their stuff looks pretty nice and is decently priced.

Nice truck! I wish I had that color!

Armorology makes nice stuff but man is it pricey...I'm probably going to go with Iribis for the rear unless I can find someone local to do it. 4x4 Labs are nice as well but I believe they only deal in LC's.

Totally drooling over the Shrockworks bumper but too spendy for me.

I agree with the air intake stuff...not worth the money.

Unless you are doing hard-core rock crawling or spending lots of time is sketchy offroad areas, I'd hold off on the skids too. I've had my truck almost 2 years now and still nothing but the stock skids...I'd like to do up some aluminum ones someday but I just haven't justified the cost yet. Your truck is going to be enough of a pig with that RTT mounted up there.

I'd worry about upgrading the electrical system and get yourself a fridge if you don't have one already. You will get more use out of that than almost anything else!

Oh and a snorkel...everyone needs a snorkel! :victory:

hey...thanks all.....:bike_rider:

I will take your recommendations on the intake shhhhtuff, looking at armorology front bumper, I like the non stinger unit.....thanks for the tip.

The truck will not see much off road if any, kind of sad but I have other rock crawlers for the tight stuff. I just like to drive setup rigs, ready for a good road trip at a moments notice. Urban Off-Road

I will post progress, looking forward to the sonoran lift kit install..

Deleted the running boards today in prep for the rock rails.....the 33's roll without the running boards on...yah !

Intake and exhaust, well worth it. You'll notice a difference the 1st time you pull out to pass a tour bus on I70, provided your geared right. ISR and Deck plate mods can be done real cheap. Don't get hung up on the filter. I've been running OEM and change them often. A good performance exhaust shop can bend you up a cat-back way cheaper than the aftermarket DIY kits.

Skip Armorology, over priced and expect to leave your truck with Jed for several weeks while he works on it. For the money and time you'll get more adventures in by going with something else. Oleg (Irbis) has closed up shop due to health reasons. Last I talked to him he was still going to work at home. His web site is still up, with contact info. Give him a call and see what he can do.

Can't wait to see this one. Please assure us that you'll take it off road at least a time or two! Congrats and happy building! :coffee:

Nice clean looking runner to start with!

You'll like the Sonoran 1.2 I'm sure. If your running 285/75/16's they may rub the upper control arm a bit (mine are BFG KM2's and they rub a little, thinking about hub-centric spacers).

Addicted Offroad knows what they're doing I'd go with them. I've been meaning to go there shop to check out his 3rd gen with a fully custom 4 link and a S.A.S.

You could always check out Aluminess for a rear too, they do nice rears for taco's.

Good luck I'll watch the build-Marc

not really sure at this point what to do with front bumbers,,,,might just get another ARB...yawn !!.....big ol thug of a bumper.

sliders scheduled monday...pics then.

Thanks for the looks, really appreciate the input :victory:

don't want to wait 5 months for a bumper, would never leave my truck for any length of time waiting, its not rocket science,,,,its been done, make the thing...schedule 3 hours and put it on.

ahhhhhhhh, the supercharger idea ??

this was last weekend in moab......450 rwhp, dual cases and lockers.....highway crawler, fun passing the suv's on I70 with cruise set @ 80 mph.

Sold this truck last week to a local solo dealer in N. Colorado......replaced with lower miles and locker.....this white 98 is in really great condition if anyone is looking for a 3rd gen toyota 4runner 5sp..no diff loc. new timing belt / h20 pump....needs nothing...I sold it to him for 6K...he just listed it for 8200 on CL....hmmmmm, if you are looking for a nice clean 3rd gen 5sp, this is the one...there is no issues and runs perfect with a new OME heavy kit, magnaflow cat back and air box mod,,,, I swapped the tires on the 2 before selling the white one.
