Here's a bunch of choices...trying to gather some data on what works for everyone.

The times I posted are to allow folks on the East Coast to join in, and for it not to be too early on the West coast.

Please choose one from each group.

8:00 PM MST shoulds be 8:00 PM PST

While the net is open to all Hams, personally I'd like to keep it a managable size. IMO much more than 20 folks will become a bit impersonal, and not allow for more than one turn thru the checkin's. It would be nice to have a little rag chew time too...

Hey Mark I would love if we had the problem of too many people...
The first few weeks of plugging away at this it seemed only Blake & I were talking...I know you were willing to get a whole new radio and that kept me posititve.
Then last week after I posted to 4 forums about it we suddenly got some people.
I would be fine with whatever we come up with especially since you got us that great script to use so anyone can be net control.
I work most weekday nights so I will have to try to arrange my work schedule once we have settled on a day/time.
THe only reason I have often mentioned weekends is because it would be cool to get check-ins from trails/camps...However as I have searched nodes aval for my runs planned I noticed that we would not get many outside the major metro areas. So that makes weekday nights cool...also gives folks a chance to practice on only the radio without all the trail issues also.
No matter what we come up with I am just happy to see others interested in this as otherwise my ham radio would just sit between runs and I wouldn't master many of it's functions

Hey Lance!

Indeed, I started with the 2M just for trail comms, and found the hobby was a lot of fun too. IRLP has opened up the DX world to us non HF users!

I'd like to invite a guest speaker to our net - KC7GHT Joe Ruby.

http://wb7tjd.org/irlp/

He has an amazing setup on his node #3820, and is also an avid off highway Jeeper. I catch Joe occasionally on our local repeaters, or can give him a call on his node.

Anyway, I hope this poll will get filled out by as many folks as possible so we can come up with a schedule that works for the majority of users.

I would really like to have someone like that with experience on the radio and on the trail!
good job sir and thanks
so the topic for this week can be "a guest speaker to talk about customs & habits for ham radio and the use of irlp"

I have been doing a lot of research on IRLP since my first exposure to it on the Net last weekend!

We might want to use a different - less used reflector than the Western. It seems to be a fairly busy one. On another we might be able to get a slot put aside for the Net, so we can be sure of the location. Here is a list of the reflectors:

REF9000 Vancouver
REF9010 Discovery Reflector
REF9050 NorthEast Reflector
REF9070 Alaska Reflector
REF9120 New England Reflector
REF9200 Crossroads Reflector
REF9210 Raleigh
REF9220 openIRLP Reflector
REF9250 Western Reflector
REF9300 Saskatoon Reflector
REF9310 Fredericton
REF9350 LAX - [WALA] Hub
REF9450 Dallas
REF9500 Sydney - Virtual PUB
REF9600 Philadelphia
REF9610 Great Lakes Reflector
REF9620 Wisconsin Reflector
REF9700 Lancaster
REF9730 Crossroads Annex
REF9750 The UK Reflector
REF9800 Scandinavian Reflector
REF9870 Denver Reflector

The three busiest seem to be Dallas, Denver and the Western Reflector.

Just a thought.

I agree that the western reflector is busy...
but the nice thing about these reflectors is that they have many channels that can be opened...and if you track it many on the western reflector are lightly used 9251, 9253...as a matter of fact Mark-crawler976 even searched the WR site and found the list of which channel is for what..
At first this was a little thing trying to get off the ground,,,as it grows we will reach a point where we can ask a reflector for a regular net time/channel.
I will start watching the page on the reflectors and see if there is 1 or 2 that are very quiet and might welcome more activity
thanks for the info
