MBRP. Holds 900+ as advertised. I have a RTT and Awning (not pictured) and have made a lot of long trips with them on. It has 2" bars and feels beefy and very sturdy. No wind noise or loss of mileage. The system is modular, so you can add the front addition to make it a full front to back rack. Mine is just the base rack (rear portion). Another member, Jimbo has had his for a long time and has some good imput. I talked to him before making my decission. But as for the RTT topic, I bought this rack specificly for this purpose. I didnt want a rack that made getting the roof off hard, like the Gobi, and held a lot of weight without making a lot of noise, also like I read a lot with the Gobi. The MBRP is the best addition Ive made by far and would do it again.

I looked at Wilderness Racks, but they say that the weight limit is 200 lbs, not enough for two people. I'm a big guy at 225 lbs, so even by myself I excede the weight limits

The "Expedition Rack" DYNAMIC weight rating is 300lbs. The "Specialty Rack" and "Track Rack" DYNAMIC weight limit is 200lbs. The Expedition Rack is the full length rack with the windshield mount for the front bar, about 84"l x 54"w. The Specialty rack is a 3/4 60"l x 54"w rack which relies on the gutter above the rear door for the front mount and the Track Rack is a track mounted 1/2 rack 48"w x 42"l front to rear.

Either will handle a lot more weight in a static situation, like when you climb into the RTT.

I'm a newbie looking for good recommendations. I'm leaning towards a Gobi rack but need to fit a family sized RTT.

Any suggestions?

I've been running a Gobi for a bit over a year now and it's been great.

They have recently redesigned the rear support bars and now can put two load stabilizers on the rear support arms of the rack...adds bit more support to dampen any left/right movement under load.

Gobi is spendy, but I think worth every penny. Especially with it being compatible with the AEV snorkel.

I have pounded this rack and it hold up well. even with a spare tire, awning, hi-lift, and fuel containers, it it solid!!! I do recommend going with a dual HD isolator kit and if you plan to run that type of weight up there, invest in a set of corner guards too. Although the HD wear plates hold up well, 3/16 corecer guards are added security of beding sheet metal should you put that rear support bar up against a wal. my buddy did that in Moab and the GOBI and Jeep came out with just a couple scratches. here are a couple pics. I have hundreds, so let me know if you need a specific shot.

Most I've seen have been the Simpson III.

Tim what are your thoughts of drilling/riviting the HD wear plates on the corners?? I can't run corner guards due to Or-Fab carrier.

That Gobi is so slick. I'd love one of those, but the price was just way too much for me when I was buying a rack.

Any family tents fit this thing? I have a family of 4.

What's the difference between the ranger and stealth model? Is it really just the light bar?

I'll have to get you some other pics on Monday. GOBi has an HD wear plate out now that is a coated diamond plate. They are pretty tough!!!

I have not seen anyone rivet one in place yet. Due to that seem back there and the filler neck on the drsd, you start to run out of places to drill in and anchor it. 3M tape will hold it in place if you do the entire backing uf it since it is formed to the upper lip and curve of the quarter pannel.
