Expedition Trailer Lights, wiring

I'm finishing building my custom Expedition Trailer. There are a few mechanical works to bee done, but its all minor touches. Main task for me is to work on electrical. I'm good at wiring, os it shouldn't be a problem.
Meanwhile I would like to get an opinion on lighting and wiring from others. We all know those basic rules of wiringa trailer, but may be there are some specifics or "would great to have" items and/or tips for placing the lights...
I dicided to go with LED as better visibility as well as low voltage and longer life. Any advises on how many and where should I put lights on the trailer? What is the best location for each unit? Ideas like "placing a licence plate on the fender or body instead of the bracket to minimize impacts on driving through the forest and ripping it of" or any other about "best" place to place a marker light are what I'm looking for...

P.S. I'll post up the final project as soon as it will be ready.

I think best practice is to have any light recessed into a steel structure for protection. So, if you're using a typical oblong tail-light which installs into a cut-out in the rear bumper, for example, weld a ring around the opening the shield the light.

If you can get you hands on a Napa lighting catalog it has the requires lighting laid out.

I checked the official regulations. Its all understandable and I was thinking of doing something more then what is required. So I was wondering if someone has some "cool" ideas or thoughts.
Like the comment about recessing the lights. I have my designed in the way, so main tail lights are in steel cover box, so they are protected.
