Expensive, but probably worth it.

I am unaffiliated with this in any way however, I own a Chinook Baja 4x4 (ford E-350/Trailways Chinook Concourse/Quigley) and this rig is what I wish my Baja was. What a gorgeous build!

Needs a few more solar panels as you can still see the roof !
Half the panels are shaded by the air conditioner at any one time. They are the failure prone flexi panels so the new owner will have to replace them with the layout of their choice.

And with that work done to the 6.0, so long as they can provide receipts for the work, I wouldnt worry about it in the least.
The 6.0 once bulletproofed is one hell of an engine.

I gotta say I love duals, I'll never understand the super single conversion craze. But I'll also never understand our passion for MASSIVE rear overhangs. This is a gorgeous unit. And Chinook has been around forever, my Dad had one in the 1970s. So they will likely be here to resolve any warranty issues. His was a rear entry to, I'm starting to like the side entry, rear double, MASSIVE storage under the PERMANENT Double Bed and living space for just two. Other than overhang, this pretty much nails it.

The interior seating, dinette/couch is pretty nice if you entertain. Looks like seating for seven with great comfort... plus the two up front.

But yeah, $150K for a 16 year old used 6.0L Ford....... seems outrageous but the world is crazy right now. I wish him luck.

Compare this to a 5 year old ambulance.... I'd take the Aluminium Bodied Ambulance and add 4WD and my kinda camper.
But this is gorgeous. Love the streamlined front end.

I guess you didnt get the memo? TrailWagons which is the company that built the Chinooks went bankrupt in 2005. The 2005 was the last model year manufactured by Trailwagons.
Beyond that if you read the article you would know that the only thing on this truck that is original is the actual camper shell. They put the Chinook camper shell on a 2005 E-450 ambulance chassis. They then obviously installed a late model front clip including fenders, hood, grill, headlights, etc....There is nothing here a manufacturer is going to warranty. You cant even buy window glass for the things anymore. $150,000 is more than they sold for brand new off the dealership showroom floor.

Some two years ago a group purchased the rights to the original Chinook molds and name, they then started manufacturing sprinter based Chinooks and trailer campers. They have a website up and running now, but it all looks like overpriced garbage to me. They have pull behind campers that look like they chopped the cab off of a sprinter van and turned it into a camper. Looks rediculous to me.

All of that aside, i would be curious to see how they handled the title for this vehicle since the old title would be for an ambulance not a 2005 Chinook Class C RV.

thanks, I went to the website and was totally disappointed. But this one at least has heritage. Sad to lose the original, kinda like Apple without Steve Jobs.

I agree, the old chinooks are decent looking imo, i have one sitting in my driveway. The one piece fiberglass shell eliminates water intrusion concerns or seams rattling apart, thats the main reason i bought one versus a newer rig.
