Explorer Box

Larry, glad to hear you like our stuff.

We focus on DIY home-builders looking for a lightweight alternative to building a Teardrop type camper. Folks would normally tow one with a car or CUV.

Just a clarification, our Explorer Box is designed for paved and maintained off-pavement towing, not off-road.

You bought one built already or you received the trailer kit...?

I drew up at least 50 sets of plans for various do-it-yourself trailers before I bought my Conqueror. I just didn't have the time, space, or energy.
Someday though, going to build something interesting...

I bought the trailer yesterday. I was in a vehicle that didn't have a hitch so I'm going to go get it today.

I think it was made in the 60s or 70s. It's rough, but has a lot of potential.

A lot of the Explorer Box ideas would go well with it so I will probably be get there book at the beginning of the new year. I would love to get a RTT but they are pricey so that part will have to wait.

I'll post pics when I get the trailer here - so look for a new thread called "The Hippie Wagon".

Glad to hear the Hippie Wagon is under way, feel free to call or email if you have questions. I've had that happen a few time, find a great deal but have no way to get it home.

Hilldweller, here is an "interesting" project for you, built it a few years ago.

The Hippie Wagon is home! :wings:

Getting it was a story in itself. I will post pics later today.

BTW - that is one sweet looking kayak!! That takes talent.

Beautiful!
You need to meet my nephew; he's built a couple of boats from scratch and has just completed a total restoration of a hundred-dollar-special. The kid is nuts.
He began doing restorations and builds as a pre-teen....

It gets in your blood, I love taking a pile of wood, some epoxy, a few screws and making something useful. Sounds like your nephew is the same way, if he is ever out in Oregon have him look me up.

Here is a more basic plywood kayak I've also made.
