ExPo Mud Flaps

Black Dog

Makin' Beer.
In a lot of states mud flaps are mandatory on lifted vehicles and stuff, but ripping them off always is a hassle. Thats one reason why I'm replacing mine, I was backing up and trying to turn around when a tree stump snagged one flap and tore it off.

I think I need a bigger truck!
I need a BIG wide set of flaps I can make removable for when I am towing the trailer(s). My tires are currently MT's and don't throw a lot of stones. My friend Mikes BFG AT's literally sandblasted the front of his new adventure trailer when we hit the gravel last September... he needs them more than I do!!

I like the idea of big and cheap, and the mount will definitely be home made.

Got these from O-Reilly's. Stylish mountain motif. Hopefully I can keep paint on the door hinges now...

Pathfinder
Here's my Pathfinder's stock flaps on the rear. They do a surprising job of catching mud and rocks, very little extra fling.

And the Ram's Dodge logo ones I got off of Amazon. You can probably find them at any parts store, I know Autozone carries them.
Because my tires stick out a bit (285 Duratracs) I still get a little bit of fling.

When I built my trailer, I had to get a state patrol inspection for licensing purposes. One of the requirements was to have mud flaps if the axle centerline was below the frame of the trailer. Since I'm running 37" tall tires, it was most CERTAINLY in need of the flaps. And since it's a low budget build, I built my own.

I got a piece of 90 degree angle iron from Ace Hardware, wich cost me all of about 5 bucks
Miscelaneous hardware and fender washers to distribute the load.
Chevy logo floor mats which were really cheap from the local parts store (10 bucks for the pair)

Here's how it came out and it passed inspection
