Idea
A message handling practice. Here is a Tutorial on my Local ARES group web site. I just joined the group and need the practice. The member relaying the message could include their e-mail address. Then anyone that wants could e-mail the message back. Everyone that got it right could have there name listed on the forum.

Hi Jerry,

I noticed on the SD ARES website home page there is a message handling net every Sunday at 1900 - have you checked that out? I suspect that would be an excellent dedicated venue.

Cheers,
Cal

Lance what repeater do you use in AZ? No reason to tie two up if we can use the same one.
I'm in Chandler, and will be attempting to connect via 448.950 (5430). I've never tried that unit before though. I've no idea if she's running.

I could hit Tempe, too, maybe downtown Phoenix. We'll see what Lance is up to.

I'm in north phoenix around 12th st and hatcher and the only IRLP one I can hit with my portable is phx 444.300+. It's not all that clear though.

444.3 is the one I use in downtown phx, I have never had any trouble with it, so it might be range from North Phx or Squaw Peak that is giving you trouble Mr R2FJ
I am not sure if I will be able to get on since I start work at 7pm, I will have my handheld and if I can step outside for a bit I will try to get on so anyone what wants to get 444.30 up and running ahead of time is welcome.
Super easy:
just listen for a bit to make sure it isn't in use (I usually check on irlp.net first also)
then key the mic and say "KE7NKP attempting to connect to the western reflector to join a net" while holding the mic open punch 9251 into the keypad and it is a done deal. You should get an automatic response from the western reflector.
After you are done PLEASE key the mic and say "KE7NKP disconneting from the western reflector and I would like to thank the owners of this repeater for its use" then while holding the mic open punch 73 into the keypad.
That is all there is to it....oh and remember that with the radio to internet to radio delay make sure you key your mic then wait 1 sec to begin speaking or your first bit will be cut off.

Denver Metro Area access to the net

I'll be joining tonight and have posted up on Rising Sun, so there may be a few from the club joining from the Denver Area as well. If you are in Denver here is the information you would need to join in on the net.

I'll be dialing up the Western Reflector (node #9251) for tonight's net. I have access to a couple of repeaters that are IRLP enabled. The first one is open to the public and the second one is for members of RMRL. As this is not a scheduled event on either of these repeaters, there may be people already using them at the time we would like to dial into the Expo Portal Net. This was what happened in December and so we were about 10 minutes late in getting in. With access to two repeaters, we'll try one and if it is busy fail over to the second.

At about 7:55 (MS) I'll dial up the reflector on 146.805 (pl 186.2), if the node is busy I'll move over to 145.340 (pl 103.5) to dial up the reflector. If both repeaters are in use, we can all touch base on the 145.145 (pl 107.2) and figure out the next steps.

Another CRA repeater at 147.225 (PL 107.2, IRLP 3990) can also be linked. I'm gonna try and make the net, although it depends on when I can slip out of work.

I will not be able to join the net. I could listen in if anyone knows of a website that would be streaming this (I tried echolink but I'm locked out by my work firewall and hotel firewall).
