ExPo Salsa Fargo has a new home

I am now the proud owner of Flounder's awesomely built Salsa Fargo. I may make some minor modifications to it over time, but it is so sweetly set up now it doesn't really need anything.

Tonight, I took it on it's first mini-adventure. I put my Tenkara fly fishing rod (minimalist light weight collapsible rod) in my Camelbak biking pack, tossed in a fly box and biked to a creek near my home. The trip was mostly on road and then a short foray off road to the creek.

I fished the creek for about an hour, caught mostly rough fish, but a couple of bass and bluegill, too. It may not be bikepacking in the Rockies, but it is still an adventure right out the back door, and like all good adventures, made me feel like a kid again.

Sounds great!...I am trying to set up my bike for offroad fishing access...hoping to hit up some areas in UT this late summer and fall...

Flounder, that's the plan. Last night was kind of "proof of concept". Tonight, we'll go on a longer ride searching for bigger fish. Trying to make the best of daylight while summer lasts.

Flagster, it is a ton of fun and adds an element of feeling like you're getting away with something when you bike to your fishing spot. If you like to fly fish, you should check out Tenkara. Pretty awesome lightweight/backcountry way to chase fish.
