External Table mount

For those of you mounting tables to the outside of your trailer, this is a great option:

I designed a similar mount for floating wall shelves while working at Target, but much lower profile. From my testing of the shelf brackets and a glance at this product, it should be rediculously strong! Plus it could stiffen the sides of your trailer...

That would work so great for a tailgate table for a jeep! Looks like its a really strong extrusion and reasonable too.

I wonder how stable it would be for a 13X26 table with no other additional support?

These work nicely for doing side tables.

Even for a small table, you'll want a support leg of some sort, I use an adjustable one.

According to the above link, yours in the picture is mounted backwards. I wonder what difference (if any) it makes as far as stability goes to have it the opposite way?

Edit, sorry.. didnt realize the picture was so big.

I believe that picture is labeled wrong. And so does a reviewer of that product on the site linked.

That's pure awesomeness. I'll have to add that to my kitchen design I have going on.

Thanks,

There are two different pictures on there labeled the same way. I doubt they messed up twice.

I also doubt it would make much difference, though I could be wrong. Just happened to notice the drawing differences and how he had his mounted.

I will definitely give it a shot though....

I think it all depends on how you build your table. If it's a sheet of plywood, yes support it. If it has an internal structure, you could be fine. 13" isn't very deep, shouldn't be hrs to test.
You'd be amazed at how strong a table can be made out of 6mm hardboard, kraft paper honeycomb and another sheet of thicker ply on top, plus sides of course.

Great links.

StumpXJ, I've mounted them both ways, doesn't change the need for supporting the end. I found attaching like in my picture, they snag things less.

They have used these inside campers for years, I made my outside table this spring with the quick mount and it works great! Holds a lot of weight.
