Ez topper lift

Looking at this as an alternative to buying or building a wedge style pop up or a project m.

lot cheaper and shorter lead time.

anyone have one? How do you like it?

truck is a short bed f150. already has a leer topper and a roof top tent.

Biggest weakness with the EZ Topper is the velcro tent attachment to the inside of the top of the trucks box ... it's far from waterproof (when the top is in the up position), as velcro simply doesn't offer that kind of protection from water ingress.
If the number of velcro fastenings that attach to the inside of the box (thus directing rain directly into the box) were somehow redesigned and reduced, the EZ Topper would be a no-brainer for these kinds of applications.

Having said that, I'm currently considering an EZ Topper myself, albeit while planning to have a large tarp to put over the entire top in heavy rain, specifically to address the above design concern with regards to water ingress.

As long as the rain flap didn't compromise the actual seal when the top was in the down position, which might be hard to do depending on how wide the wall of your truck bed is.
There isn't much room at all there, especially if you're using a double bead seal.

I can't sew, thus my tarp idea ... albeit that it kind of defeats the purpose of a quick set-up and quick take-down camping rig ... and leaves you with a large, soaking wet tarp to try and store away somewhere where it won't get everything inside the canopy wet!

Just finished adding mine this weekend. I think it's going to serve my purpose just fine. It might have some water leakage at the bottom strips of velcro on the truck bed. I think i'll be able to live with it. The truck bed drains any way and my bed platform will be off the floor. We'll see.newest 126.jpgnewest 130.jpegnewest 127.jpg

I am still building my rig out but, I have the Topper EZ Lift with a Decked system in a 2016 Ram 2500 short bed. I agree the rain could be an issue at the bed rails but, my plan is to just drop the topper if it starts raining. Sure, I might wake up to some water dripping but, that has happened to me in just about every outdoor camping system I've ever used. The Topper EZ Lift raises the cap 17 inches so, the ability to stand up depends on the height of your topper and your height...plus anything you have in the bed of your truck (like my Decked). In my case, the Decked uses 12" of height and my air mattress takes another 5" which means the lift gets me back that full height.

I have almost the same truck as you.

how does the back door work? does it just roll down like shown or is there a smaller panel you can climb through?

do you think there is enough height to set up a stove and make A pot of coffeee in it?

I would like to build a small removable galley with a sink and a single burner stove against one side.

I am Just concerned about Having enough height.

I was looking at the wedge campers but I like how inconspicuous this thing is and that it would let my truck still fit in my garage.

How tall is it inside, i.e. can you stand up straight? Do you have any measurements inside?
The lift adds 17.5 to the height. I have a cab high topper. I can stand and walk around but I'm hunched over. I'm 6.2 and didnt want to have to crawl around on my knees. It works for me.

Rolls down like the picture shows and has a zippered window in the panel. They do make a different door package called the contractor back.

I wonder if you could swap out the bed rails with a piece you could roll a tent end under. I don't know how to explain it, but very similar to a soft top on a jeep. Of course you'd have to unhook it each time BUT, you would then have tent fabric that runs to the outside of the bed rails and could be tightened down. That would be a great upgrade for this type of tent IMO.
