F-250 leaf spring help arb and warn

Are the xsprings made to carry the weight of your winch and bumper? Chances are you will have the same issue down the road unless you get springs made for the additional weight you are carrying. I am very happy with my Atlas springs, they are matched to the weight of my truck.

I just shot an email over to juan at atlas I believe. Hope to hear back soon and thanks all for the feedback. Ill keep you posted if anyone's curious. I need to post up pictures of the truck when I can and how the build is coming.

Just got off live chat with Joe at sd springs which was the link someone was kind enough to post for me. He said the x code springs are made here in the USA and they source steel from either Mexico or Canada.

After the comment on Chinese steel in leaf springs I had to call and find out asap. Still waiting to hear back from atlas before I pull the trigger.

Regarding old man emu I have heard good stuff about them. However I want stock height ideally.

So here's the update. I went with the atlas springs after returning the Xcode springs. I wish I hadn't returned to x codes at this point.

Atlas got my info, weight of bumper and winch and between work and overseas stuff I finally got them on a couple weeks ago. They replaced a two inch lift almost new pro comp I think. Anyways I spent close to two hundred bucks to freight the monsters out to me and I had specified stock ride height just with a few hundred pounds increased capacity.

So go to pick up the truck after new atlas springs were put on. I was excited to see stock height! Oh was I disappointed, these things sit about an inch higher than my two inch lift.

Very disappointing to say the least after such high hope and the numerous recommendations on atlas.

So I called atlas a day before I head overseas again and they pull up my order. They see the springs were made to accommodate an extra 800lbs and not 400lbs. I'm running the arb deluxe bull bar and warn vr12000 winch. Needless to say the combo is not even close to 800lbs.

The gentleman I spoke to was friendly and understanding and was sorry for the mix up. If I lived in so cal he said he'd fix it up for free. Sadly I'm in Montana so not really an option unless I have it driven all the way out.

The suggestion from them was to take it to a local shop on my dime of course and pull the top leaf, which should drop 300lbs or so off the rating. If that's not enough mail back to them (again on my dime) to be rebuilt. They would cover the freight back to me. S

So at that point I've paid freight twice on these springs, install twice and not any of this was a result of my oversight. As you can imagine this has left me not angry but less than pleased.

I just shot them an email with a few questions. If we can arrange a road trip down the line will they fix or rebuild these to do what I initially ordered. That being stock ride height with bumper and winch.

The wife laughed as we tried the pro comp, then the x code return now custom springs and still not fixed to my liking lol. She said it would have been cheaper and less frustrating to have just put some 37" tires on lol. I can't even argue with that logic sadly.

I will let you guys know how this works out and what they say. If I have to drive it out there I may have them do a set of rear leaves as well. But I guess their response will set the tone on that one.

Now next project.....rear leaves on the cucv! Hopefully less waste of time and money.

Haven't gotten in touch with the main guy yet on the phone since a couple weeks ago, but the rest of the staff at Atlas sure are friendly.

What specs did you give them?

I gave them the weight of the deluxe bull bar from ARB and the weight of the warn vr12000 winch. I would have to look for the email and order sheet, but it was about 350 or 400lbs if memory serves me correctly. I'm not even sure what dumper and winch combo is out there that weighs 800 lbs ( WOW ). That has got to be a beast of a front end set up to weight that!

How does your ride ht. compare to an F350 with the plow kit? Most of the added weight springs I've seen replicate level F350 plow truck ht., not F250 5th wheel towing ht.

It's not uncommon for new springs to lose an inch after a few months of driving. But that stinks, maybe try to sell them locally, as lift springs (get pics of your truck first), and then just go get the Ford plow kit springs again.

New springs will be a little high until they settle. Did you provide written instructions or verbal? My experience has always been that when things go wrong, communication was usually lost somewhere. It sounds to me that they were under the impression that you wanted the 2" lift plus additional weight on the front. If you have new springs in front and the 5th wheel on the back, I could see it looking too high in the front.

Not bad advise, but I want to get the Atlas Springs dialed in if possible Buliwf. I do however have a almost new set of ProComp 2" lift springs or actually the leveling kit in it's entirety lol. They look to be great quality (ATLAS), just need to get the weight right. Seems like sometimes these aftermarket upgrades parts don't always go as planned on the first shot.

I haven't ever had a good look ever at an F350 with X code (plow kit) springs, so I cant speak to that comparison.

I spoke to Fernando today and gave a tentative time I might be able to make a road trip out to see some family in the area. They said they could work with me and the time and get the springs dialed in. I also after the conversation today wanted to sanity check myself on the weight rating I gave them initially. I have made mistakes ordering stuff before in my life so no claims of perfection from me.

CONCLUSION:

Over the years of buying and selling things I understand that no person and no business is perfect and mistakes/misunderstandings happen. What means more to me than a few extra bucks at this point is good customer service and in my opinion I think ATLAS has good customer service. I honestly believe that regardless of where to faulty numbers came from they would have taken care of me either way. SO my post regarding the shared shipping and not being thrilled about that is after some thought fair I think.

I hope this offers some clarity for those reading. I will be sure to update when I get the truck fixed up and pull those crap lift blocks from my *** end too lol. I'm going to try and get a titan tank installed before I go to ATLAS and get rear springs made for that as well. I will make sure I calculate the weight of the fuel and ideally try a scale to get good weights to help the process out and knock it out.

Pappa,

I think that was the issue here as well, the weight discussion was all verbal. I searched all our email correspondence and couldn't find anything other than "heavy duty bumper and winch". All that said they have been fine to deal with and I would just like to get this dialed in, which has become a long process due to overseas deployments stopping my truck work time lol.

There is a certified scale nearly across the street from Atlas. If you have your truck weighed when you are there, you'll be exact on the specs. Glad you got it worked out. I beat the crap out of mine and am very happy with the performance and durability.
