F350 Tremor/ Supertramp “TRAMPER’s” build thread.

Well I am going to use this thread to keep track of ideas, and plans as well as document what I have done and what I need to do in the future.

Some of you may have seen my posts asking for help/ recommendations on the truck, the Supertramp and various other things. Everyone has been SO helpful and accommodating and I appreciate everyone's comments and assistance.

So after going through several Power Wagons (2011 & 2015) a JKUR 10A (2013) , and most recently a Tacoma DCOR (2017), as well as owning one of the first GFC Campers, and most recently an Alu-Cab Khaya we have decided that it's time for something BIGGER!!! The Khaya/ Tacoma combo did everything we needed and was honestly very comfortable for the two of us but as we get older and I get more and more vacation time, and the wife works 100% remote we wanted something a little more long term liveable but still capable of getting off the grid.

We first considered Van's but ruled them out for two reasons, 1) not really that great offroad, and 2) **************** ridiculously too expensive, in my opinion. We felt like for $150-250K we could REALLY build out a truck and camper. Plus after the Khaya we really liked having a truck and camper rather than one unit. Future modularity I guess.

So long story short, after many visits to Expo East, and countless hours of Youtube videos (this is actually what finalized it since ST never made it to ExpoEast) and finally a 4 day weekend to Golden to visit the shop we placed and order for a truck and camper.

I'm going to break this up into several posts and save a few for pictures that I can upload from my phone to keep things easier for me.

So this will be the truck post. (Thanks to all who helped me finalize the options on this)

The order:

2023 F350 XLT Crew Cab, 6.75' Bed
Sport Appearance package, gets me body color painted bumpers, full LED headlights, and a blacked out Grille and Emblems
XLT Premium package, NAV, Power in/out and folding mirrors, B&O speakers, BLIS monitoring, Remote start, 360 Cameras, heated seats.
Tremor package, 2" level, 35" tires, lots of electronic off road goodies, skid plates, cool rims, AND an ORANGE Tremor sticker (Ford messed this up it was supposed to be black/grey)
Back glass defrost
Wheel well liners (why aren't these standard equipment? come on...
Mudflaps F&R
Upfitter switches, these seems like a real bargain, sure makes adding accessories easier and cheaper
410 Amp Alternator(s), because more power!
Dual battery's, see above, also this is "required" to add the factory Ford winch which I plan on doing.
Tough bed bed-liner, this has been holding up builds but didn't seem to effect me, figured it's going to have a camper in it full time so why not protect it.
40/Console/40 seat, to be honest we wanted to add the Dometic console fridge but the 2023's don't have a 12V plug and aren't "listed" as fitment with the existing product. I actually plan on adding a direct wired (to one of the upfitter switches) 12V outlet if the fitment is the same as the 20-22's if not, might just convert this to a safe for valuables.
Backup Alarm, wife HATES it, my thought was that as this is a FT camper I wanted to eliminate, as best as possible, any chance of backing over someone, most kids know not to run out when they hear that noise. It might be annoying the few times we do stay at a campground, but if it saves a kids life at a National Park that might have otherwise run out, it's a small price to pay.

And this will be the Camper post. (Again thanks to everyone who shared there thoughts and experience).

The order:

2023 Supertramp Flagship LT
Exterior Side wall L track, opted for both sides. Plan on a shower enclosure on one side/ awning on the other as well as carrying other things in the future maybe. Seemed the most modular.
1500W Inverter, wife works remote, probably going to use a collapsible silicone kettle for coffee, and who knows what else.
2nd Battle Born 100Ahr LiFePo battery, 200Ahr total.
Truma Combi Eco Plus, allows heat from a 20A shore power source. Probably won't be used a lot but we do hit campgrounds at least once every 7 days or so to catch up on laundry or shower
Lagun Table
Ceiling L track, I'm a pretty avid fly fisherman, I picture a fly rod rack up there when moving spots, also the ability to hang a pair of waders from the ceiling into the toilet/ shower basin if wet.
Kitchenette L track, place to hang our kitchen kit.
Rear view camera, I was going to just do the camera source relocation (Tacoma had this) but figured why not just have them do it all, plug and play.


Interior shower, I haven't added this option yet but I'm debating. Allows showering inside, adds a 5 Gallon Grey tank, a curtain/ drain, and some hooks on the ceiling, not sure i'd ever shower inside.... but maybe if i had the option? I don't know, you loose some storage (about 5 gallons worth). Anyone have thoughts on indoor AND outdoor showers? Khaya only had outside and that seemed fine.

That’s it. Going to do the Lagun table myself in the same place with a different table top, decide on awnings or shower cubes later (L-track is already in place).

AC was a huge debate, and cost, but in the end I’d just rather have it. I want to be 100% offgrid with this rig and i still want to be able to be comfortable on a 100 degree night in the SW….

So the reason I'm not really calling this a full on build thread is because hopefully Ford did most of the work for me.

Tremor has a payload of 4214 lbs, is lifted, locked, and has big tires so unlike the Tacoma I shouldn't have to add suspension, wheels, tires, switches, air bags, and countless other goodies.

What I would like to do is add a GMRS radio and Antenna, thinking hidden install with remote handset plugged into an Ethernet extension somewhere discreet.
Console fridge, as mentioned above not sure if this will work on the 23 model just yet
Lights, maybe ditch lights and a 30" light bar down on the grille somewhere, that's the combo I had on the Tacoma and it was perfect
Transferflo 58 gallon gas tank, not listed for the 2023 yet.... hopefully this works out
Factory Ford winch.

That's kind of it, at least off the top of my head, not really a build so much as bolt on a few items and order the very best (for our usage) Truck and Camper I could find. Should be simple yet incredibly effective for exploring the country.


This was my main reasoning for the Gas 350, massive payload.

My two cents, I would love to have an inside shower. I have a canopy camper on order for my Gladiator so I won’t have that option. But I’m looking in the future when I retire to go onto something like a van conversion, and told my older Jeep behind me. One of my must haves is an interior shower.

Thanks for the reply! I’m kinda feeling the same way, I mean it costs a little money, in the grand scheme not much, and we will lose the storage, but it does seem better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

If you have any questions about the Gladiator with a Canopy one of my closest friends has an incredibly built Mojave with Canopy, and all sorts of goodies on it. I have another buddy who bought a gladiator last week who’s debating which camper…. He’s currently leaning towards an OVRLND, but is unsure. What sealed the deal for you on the Alu Cab?

I have a Mojave as well.

I actually have on order a Lone Peak Overland wedge camper. I guess calling it a canopy camper is actually incorrect or confusing as that is often what the AluCab is called.

I really like the AluCab, but frankly it’s too heavy for the gladiator platform in my opinion. At least for the Mojave.

Lone Peak Is a new company, but they have some features that I really like at a good price. Crossing my fingers that it’s a quality product. I think they go fast camper fall short in a lot of areas for me, and I’m willing to trade a little bit of weight for some additional comfort capabilities.


i’d love to hear what camp are your buddy and I’m going with and what he thinks about it. I am on Jeep gladiatorforum.com as well. If he is, I may have seen his posts about it.

Nice! I love the Tremors. After owning a Land Cruiser with the Cool Box center console I can understand the desire to have one in this truck, you'll have to let us know if they are adaptable to the '23+ Super Duty. Looking forward to seeing your build complete and congrats on the new truck.

I have a 2022 F250 Tremor with the Supertramp on a flatbed. I would definitely add airbags or Timbrens and a Sway Bar. A different leaf spring pack may not be a bad idea either to make for a better ride. I am not quite ready for it yet, but I am planning to post a build thread over the next few weeks.

I’m surprised you think extra suspension is needed. My truck was ordered specifically to have as high a payload as possible. 4214 lbs. I’d guess my Supertramp fully kitted weighs 1400 maybe. That gives me a ton of extra capacity. I was strongly considering Sumo Springs after reading a lot about them on the full size forums…. Might even net me a tiny front lift according to some.

So far only mods to the truck. Obviously in the spirit of the Supertramp, my truck is a TRAMPER!

Also already arrived but not yet installed is a ARB dual compressor with the Dirt Church behind the seat mounting kit as well as the new Midland 575 radio, waiting on some Black Friday sales to get lights and a few other things since this camper and truck will be sitting in the garage all winterI’m not in much of a rush for things to be installed.
