Factory Gen 2.5 Torsion Bars for Lift?

I have a Gen2.5 Montero Endeavor. Do you guys know what the max lift of these factory torsion bars are? I'm debating if I should get the entire OME lift kit or just crank out the factory torsion bars and get some Bilstein shocks from A.D.D. I'm only looking to add about an inch of lift and will be getting 33" tires soon, but doing it more for clearance and aesthetics.

On a side note, how hard is it to crank the torsion bars on these Monteros?

Easy, and easy to get an inch out of the stock bars. You're increasing the preload and compressing some of the progressive rate so the ride will become harsher. Uprated OME or ADD bars will ride nicer with lift.

I agree with Toasty, cranking the t-bars is very easy, just make sure to measure before and after, and adjust both sides the same amount (same number of turns). Putting on 33's changes your ride so much, you won't notice any incremental increase in spring compression.

If you google "Pajero torsion bar crank" there is a video that shows you EXACTLY how to do it, if you have 20 minutes and a tall jack plus jack stands it's very easy.

Clocking the spring one tooth tighter, do not do this. It will ride really bad and the torsion keys will hang low, there's nothing to gain except height and the truck will actually perform worse offroad. If you need more spring rate just get new springs, a couple cheapskates will now chime in that it's totally acceptable and awesome. I've been that guy, said the same things, learned my lesson and these days i just do everything correctly now because the cheap guy pays twice as much in the long game.

A small lift on stock springs is fine until the springs fatigue, these trucks have a lot of years and miles. The age of dead springs is coming.

I'm pretty sure mine are dead then. I wasnt even going for an inch, just mostly level it out and fix sag, they maxed out quick with like no change. Had to re-index them to get any height, keys hang low and ride is pretty bad now. hopefully ill have the dosh for new ones soon
