"No fires or injuries have been reported, but the safety agency has received 28 complaints from owners of the bikes. At least two owners say that gas soaked their pant legs."

So people are complaining that parts are breaking on their 6-8 year bikes... Crap gets old and it breaks... Fix it and move on. Heaven forbid you have to walk into a Starbucks smelling like gas.

Especially when you consider that a large majority of these bikes probably sit in the garage more than half the year. I never will understand why people think anything mechanical should just go on forever without maintenance.

Know problem

Nobody buys this bike without knowledge of this problem. After you strip one down you will never have confidence in neglecting these fittings. Know your weapon and know it's strengths and weaknesses.
