Just putting this out as a feeler to see what the interest level on this truck would be. Life is funny how it deals you punches that you have to deal with. Since I got back from Alaska with the wife, work has been absolute chaos, along with building a 68 f100 for the power tour trip with my dad next summer I just don't have a lot of time to work on the old crew cab.
So I am tossing around the idea of selling this awesome truck to get something that is a little more work friendly. Probably a third gen cummins truck.
I will give a little rundown here but there is a ton of information on my build thread located here.
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/86312-Hackster-s-crew-cab-first-gen-cummins
1979 crew cab cab and front sheetmetal
1993 dodge extra cab W250 4x4 frame and drivetrain
Full body swap with entire 1993 everything, dash wiring harness, a/c, steering column pedal assembly, heater box. You name it, its from a 1993 except the body.
DRIVETRAIN:
New Radiator
New Alternator
Like new Fan shroud
KDP fixed
100 hp injectors
HE 341, clocked and modded for proper wastegate operation
4" downpipe and 4" mandrel bent exhaust with Flowmaster Diesel muffler
Front kingpins just rebuilt, new cross drilled rotors and pads less than 8k on them
Aftermarket Clutch (Valair)
getrag 360 fully rebuilt when truck was put together around 10k on this, does weep a little bit of oil but nothing major, shift perfect, no noise running full synthetic, over filled 1 quart
np 205. Could use a reseal, a little leaky especially from the tail shaft. Tailshaft housing (aluminum part needs to be replaced as the previous owner hit the sealing surface with a hammer and even new seal wont seal
rebuilt dana 70 in the rear, new carrier, gears and bearings before I got the truck.
TSM Rear disc conversion just installed, NO EMERGENCY BRAKE
New Master Cylinder
5 37" BFG all terrains
4- Hutchinson 17x9 beadlocks (Spare is on a regular wheel)
Front springs are skyjackers and actually ride pretty good
Body:
Front fenders are trimmed to fit the 37's
The paint is not great, but not bad either, there are some spots that the paint is chipped around the drivers window area, other than that though it buffs out pretty nice.
Drivers rocker is not perfect...
Firewall, inner fenders and core support were all cleaned up, modded and painted while doing the swap, its pretty clean in the engine bay, especially for a first gen.
Front bumper is 1.75" dom, full custom with a Warn 12k winch, HID driving lights
Rear Bed is all hand built, full custom, all tubing is DOM, bed is skinned with aluminum and is pretty beefy.
Rear of frame was capped with 1/4" plate and angle to finish off the back of the frame.
Bed has swing away rear tire carrier on it, big spindle, big bearings, tip and bottom seals fits a full size 37" spare and will fit a 40" =)
Bed has a bolt on rack for two action packers, three 5 gallon fuel tanks, trailer spare, chainsaw rack, generator and ARB fridge. Its full setup to go wherever you want to go.
Fully setup to tow, has hitch, prodigy brake controller and 7 pin and 4 pin plugs
Interior:
Black 1993 dash, all gauges are operations, has boost and EGT gauges as well.
Door panels have all been cleaned prepped an painted to match the dash
Has a high end Pioneer radio with satellite and Bluetooth, front door speakers and 6x9" behind the rear seat, sounds pretty good for just deck power
Full carpet kit, custom ordered in black front to rear
Mastercraft Baja RS front seats, black with lumbar built in
Full custom Center Console
Full Hushmat install inside the truck
Full Lizard skins coating on underside of floor, front to back, two coats. Its quiet inside, not new truck quiet, but very nice for a 12 valve first gen.
Foil thermal barrier underhood liner as well
I am sure there is something that I am missing here as this was a full build from the ground up. Truck is wired for an ARB cooler and cooler could be considered to sell with the truck, mounts and brackets are already on the tuck.
Truck has been to Moab, through Idaho, all through Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, the Yukon and Alaska, never failed to start, stop or get us out of or into trouble. I would drive it anywhere.
Two things need attention on the entire truck. Needs a transfercase emergency brake. I was intending on doing this install in the next couple weeks but just don't have the time to do it. Headgasket is seeping a bit at the back rear corner. It is external only and has not been an issue, I have not retorqued the head at all, no water in oil, no pressure in coolant system just a little coolant down the back of the block (It sucks I know). I only lost maybe a cup of coolant on our entire trip up to Alaska and back home 6,200 miles.
Truck was a full feature in Peterson's offroad a few months back.
I am not too sure where to start on something like this. Thinking it will need to be in the $20k pricerange.
Let me know if there is any questions or interest.
Thank you,
Sean
