G'day
There is some contention about what oil to run in these gearboxes.
There is recommendations to use gear oil.
Depending where you get your info from others say to use engine oil,as stipulated in some mitsubishi canter manuals when doing long highway runs or towing heavy.
I'm led to believe there is a needle bearing in the gearbox that is regarded as a weak point and its critical to use the correct oil as it aids in cooling this bearing which otherwise may be prone to failure.
The consensus is that it seems these gearboxes run hot.
I myself am using roadranger gearbox oil with a nulon shift ease additiive.
The box in my veichle is in good order and I tow heavy cruising at 90kmh.
I come across this info elsewhere and am asking others their thoughts on this.
Thanks
