Checking to make sure I'm not 'doing it wrong', though I've done it a bunch of times successfully.
Last month I was running a mix of fast and heavy sweep for the North Nevada Rally in my TJ. In the heat, it was a lot of work/driving for the nearly 16 year old Jeep. (It actually killed a coil near Fernly, NV on my drive up from Sunnyvale, CA leaving me with a bit of time on the side of the road fixing it).
On my way back down to Fernley the next day from some nowhere town way too far north in too much heat I pulled off to the side of the road to throw some gas in the Jeep.
I put the funnel part into the gas filler. Took the can (5 gallon metal blitz) and pushed it down until the spring loaded thing opened. It didn't seem like it wanted to take the gas. I ended up getting splashed pretty good with gas flowing back out of the funnel. Its always been a bit slow initially to take gas out of the can, but this time it pretty much refused to take any.
I massaged the filler lines a bit and after sitting for a few it finally took the gas, but at first it really didn't want to go in.
Wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this and what they did to fix it. Seems like I've got some sort of venting issue while filling the gas tank. Every once in a while when filling at a pump it takes a few tries before the pump will keep going. Not sure if that's related.
Thanks,
Jason
