Firestik Firefly in stock antenna location?

I've decided to take the plunge and invest in a CB radio for my truck. I've read a ton of articles on mounting and SWR and the like and have decided that, on my truck, a hood lip mount would be the best option. I've got a 2007 double cab Tacoma.

I've bought a Cobra 75 WXST, and am planning on going with a 3' Firestik firefly antenna. My question to you, ExPo CB experts, is:

Is there any way I can mount the firefly antenna where my stock AM/FM antenna is now? I plan on using the firefly as my CB/AM/FM antenna by means of the firestik "Match-Maker" antenna splitter and I'd like a clean-looking install. I've seen posts where folks have done this with a Jeep Liberty, but I am unsure of how it would work with my Tacoma.

Has anyone here done this? Any ideas on whether it would be possible or not? My back-up plan will be to use a hood lip mount and put the CB antenna right over where the stock antenna is now, but I'd like to avoid that if there are ANY other options.

Thanks in advance.

Like this?

I don't know anything about how this was set up, but it appears that he just removed the stock antenna and used an L-bracket bolted to the fender. The guy that owns this truck is "Hoss" on TTORA; you can PM to find out more info.

EDIT: one thing I forgot to mention - I'm not sure about this, but you might need to go with an NGP antenna since it won't have much for ground plane in that location. Someone with more CB knowledge can probably tell you for sure.

I use a 4' Firefly mounted to the lid of a cross-bed toolbox in my '08 Double Cab. It's worked well so far for me.

What you can do for trucks that have real antenna, not amplified nubs is get a CB/AM/FM splitter and just use the AM/FM on CB, Not very efficient but will work. You dont want a CB near the AM/FM antenna. The RF can feed back into the AM?FM radio.

I am going to use the CB antenna as an AM/FM antenna as well by using Firestik's splitter.

Those more knowledgeable than me (read:everyone), do you think I'll need an NGP antenna? I've got the next week off of work and want to order everything I'll need in order to get this installed in the next 7-10 days.

Thanks for your help,
