First little solo trip

After discovering this site and seeing all the awesome journeys that everyone have been experiencing I was itching to go on a little trip of my own. I'm always looking to get off road in my trucks and I found a fun looking dirt road that went from anchor bay, ca to near boonville, ca ( ~20 miles off road or so ). I decided to drive up hwy1 and camp on the coast near anchor bay for a night then get up and drive this road in the morning to see what it had to offer.

All in all I had a great time! It was really cold camping near the beach at this time of year ( there wasn't anyone else in the campground ) so i just went to bed early after a quick hike and dinner. The dirt road had some nice views but I didn't get to put the truck into 4wd. Heres some pics if anyone is interested.

Welcome to ExPo, NorCalBronco! :wavey:
Looks like you had a great trip!
Any time you can get off the road and onto dirt :safari-rig: and find some new track or road to follow is a good trip, no matter what you find. At least that's my thinking.
I think you'll like this forum.
Jump in and take a swim... :REExeSwimmingHL: You'll find a lot of very knowledgeable people here willing to lend a hand both virtually and actually.
It's a pretty amazing group.

Looking forward to reading your posts...

I believe the same thing. Unfortunately its hard to find even a dirt road to drive on around here! I live in a very beautiful area but every little road has a giant gate with a lock on it. I had to drive 1.5 hr's just to get to this dirt road :)

Thanks you for coast camp pictures.

1.5 miles to camp on a coast like that. isn't bad.

What a nice little get away. Sometimes you got to go, even if it is only for a day or overnight.

Getting out is what it's all about. You have a beautiful region in your backyard to explore. Nice pics you've shared.

I was travelling through your neck of the woods a couple of days before Thanksgiving. We stayed in Bodega Bay at the Sonoma Coast State Beach. Had a good pizza at the Bodega Bay Store and Dive Shop.

I looked at the trail to Cazadero and the Armstrong Redwoods, near Jenner but we were running short on time. Have you tried that one? And if so, is it worth it? Hwy 1 is a stunning drive, you're a lucky guy.

Cool trip and nice truck. I had the exact same color Ranger in the mid-90s, though a 2wd. It was a great truck. I like that contractor rack you have, looks like the same one I had, well still have, just don't have it on the truck anymore.

Welcome to ExPo. :ylsmoke:

Cazadero is my favorite place around here. It has this awesome microclimate "Redwoods and Rain" they call it. I dont know of a trail from Caz to Jenner, but there is a neat paved drive called fort ross road that makes that route. Armstrong redwoods is a cool place, I did my very first backpacking trip there with my dad and also used to camp there with friends and party  There is alot of different terrain just around sonoma county where I live from wild coastline to redwoods to farmland and vineyards. I love it! Just wish there was less locked gates:safari-rig:
