Expensive? Difficult to replace? No competition? No flexibility in bulb choice/replacement? Scratch easily? Fade/haze? Difficult/tedious bulb replacement?

Yeah, auto-makers are only beginning to understand the market. It's unfortunate that there is such a proliferation of vendors hawking illegitimate unsafe illegal poorly-constructed ill-performing lighting products. Consumers are bombarded by slick advertising, hyperbole, and outright lies. It's nearly impossible to separate the seed from the chaff these days.

All of the above. I was looking at the headlight assemblies on my '05 Tacoma today when I was washing it and they are fogged worse than last time I looked at them; it's creeping in from the edges but the fronts have some scratches too. And yes, most of the aftermarket replacements are junk and some are downright unsafe.

Robert, I think I saw a conversion for the tacos, it uses an earlier grille and then the 5x7 square headlights. Then all you need is a set of truck lites and your gold.
