FJ Cruiser tire choice - BFG M/T 255/75/17

I am looking to upgrade to a more aggressive and slightly taller (not wider) tire on my FJ Cruiser.

It is stock, no lift and no steel bumpers. I am confident this size tire will fit but I question the load rating for the FJ - it is a heavy vehicle. Will the 'C' rated tire fair OK?

These tires are available as an option on the new JK Rubicons and they are very reasonably priced new and also fairly commonly found used as 'take off's'.

BFG M/T

LT255/75R17/C BSW (32.05x10.04") on 7 Load - 2405@50psi

Does anyone have any experience with this tire?

I have considered those several times. Biggest reason for me not buying them yet is b/c I'm not sure they will fit our '97 4runner w/'07 rims, and they are a MT and this is my wifes DD. More concerned about wet traction than the noise. I have heard than the narrower tire should help with MPG and still give the same height.

You should be able to get a set of 4 for under $400.

I have a set on my JK (that size comes stock on the Rubicon). They will likely be for sale in mid-August, if you are interested.

Scott - I may take you up on the offer if I dont find any deals before then. Keep me posted when the time comes. Thanks.

In your opinion, how would that tire and size fare on a stock FJ Cruiser w/ stock 17" Alloy wheels.

Late post! I know. I have these on my 04 GX and they hold up pretty good. Quite than I thought or maybe that has something to do with the Lexus brand. LOL.... I would say get them if you havnt already.
