Fj Steelies on a 2002 Tundra?

Sorry for the lame thread everyone, but looking to put some cheap-ish Toyota OEM steel wheels for my 2002 Tundra. I actually have a really nice set(4) of FJ TT wheels, but...they are too nice, and I prefer the steel wheels. The FJ OEM steel wheels are pretty cheap, but they're 17s. Since I'm no wheel Guru, and can't find it in a thread here or Ih8Mud, or Tundrasolutions, I figured why not ask. Oh, and I get all of my really great advice on the Expo! Thanks!:)-Colin

Check tacomaworld.com. There is an extensive thread there on the dimensions of various Toyota wheels. I would consider comparing a set of Tundra 17"s to the FJ wheels. Sorry, I cannot remember which model Tundra had 17s, but they looked quite similar to the 4th Gen 4runner Limited wheels.

Thanks! I'll go look. I guess I could always find some 2000-03 Tundra 16x7 steel wheels, but the FJs are everywhere. Old Tundra steel wheels, not so much.

I posted a wanted ad on the local craigslist for Tundra 16" steelies and got 2 replies by the next morning, later that day I picked myself up a set of 4 wheels and BFG AT's as a combo deal for way too cheap. I looked around for the FJ 17" steelies as well, but decided to stay with 16" tires. The FJ's seemed to be fetching a premium price based on the sets I saw for sale locally.

I'm really trying to figure out if they'll fit....without any spacers. Or, if there are any issues with using them. I'd love to get Tundra steelies, but FJs are like Stink Bugs around here so I'm guessing they'll be easier to find. Putting the Tundra together now, and leaning towards NOT using the super nice Trail Teams FJ wheels I have. The truck needs to be basic and utilitarian. So, these pricey and fancy wheels just won't work for me. Good advice Revco, I'll throw up a WTB ad on CL today. Derek, I thought I'd seen pics too, but can't find them now.

The FJ steelies as far as I can tell have a 4.5" backspacing, the same as your stock Tundra rims. Should fit no problem.

I've been running fj cruiser Steelers on an 01 tundra, but I have the larger TSB brake calipers... they clear great they put the outside of the tire flush with the fender (plastic flairs have been removed) They keep my 285/75/17 toyos off the spindle, but just barely.

Thanks Blender! I knew I'd seen them somewhere. I'm actually looking for either FJ(17s), or Tundra(16s) steel wheels. Just figure the FJ wheels are more common these days. Lots of FJs riding around here with aftermarket wheels. Off topic, do you like the ARB Sahara bumper? I'm searching for another option, but so far that's the only thing I find that's not a custom build. Thanks!

You are exactly right about the fj cruiser 17" Steelers being easier to find. They get snatched up quick, but there are always more. The ARB is not bad. I also debated a custom bumper, but the fab time was a dealbreaker for me. It's a well made bumper and not too bad to install. The approach angle is no better than stock, but it has a little more vertical clearance. Its great to kneel on the bumper to reach down into the engine bay. A custom bumper would offer a little better performance in tight technical terrain, but bolt-on was too easy to turn down. The chrome hoop looks silly IMO, but it looks weird without it.
