Fj62 transfer case removal

I am swapping out the dead a440f in my 89 fj62 with a slightly better (not dead) used unit. Does anyone know the procedure for removing the transfer case on a split case behind the auto? I currently have both the dead tranny and the good tranny setting besides each other on my garage floor and I need to swap the good transfer case from the bad tranny to the good tranny.

Any tips, specs or things to watch out for would be great.

Thanks

I just rebulit a 62 split case and you have to take it apart, to get it off the transmission. You will need the shop manual for it. Best to do all this on the bench. MUD is a great asset for questions. Not too difficult, if you pay attention. You might as well rebuild the transfer case while you have it apart.

+1, rebuild the Tcase if you have the capacity.

I'll be installing an H42 in place of the auto in my FJ62 this spring.

Buy a rebuild kit for it, since it is apart you should replace the bearings idler shaft and thrust bearings, it's easy since the case is apart already, Georg in Stocton has the kit. Valley Hybrids.

Good luck.
